REV & Bill Cover the McGuiness Trial (Day 6) – The Auditor Who Really Needed an Auditor
The very office that is charged with rooting out the state government’s “waste fraud and abuse” was a hotbed of waste fraud and abuse.
It’s 6 days in and the trial finally touches on the fact that while Kathy was doing all this shit and bringing on her daughter and her daughter’s buddy and making up loyalty oaths and misusing the state seal to glorify Kathy McGuiness, the thing she wasn’t doing was her fucking job. Now that’s not a crime, but it should be judged like one by the voters.
More witnesses on Day 6 of the Kathy McGuiness trial: more haters, more p-cards, and more hostile workplace environments. We also learn more about the man, the myth, the legend: Thomas Van Horn.
It is good to see all DelDems (not named Pete) supporting this primary challenge. I think we can all agree that Park City Kathy may or may not be spending time in the Gray Bar Hotel, but at least her giant noggin will be un-electable.
Lydia York will be officially announcing her candidacy in all 3 counties on Saturday.
10:30 in The Circle in Georgetown
12:30 on The Green adjacent to the Old Statehouse in Dover
3:30 on the steps of DelDems HQ
I hope to see some of you there.
Sirius satellite mentioned the other day too during Adrina Burd’s story. So interesting. This is great stuff!
More details in the Sirius/XM story today!
But we’re beat. Need a breather. We’ll record Friday’s event filled half day in court Sunday evening and drop it Monday.
Odds on a verdict before the holiday weekend? Depends on who you ask.
Really? Do you know how dysfunctional that office was/is that McGuinness walked into? Answer: extremely. It was the heart of the Delaware Way — with Wagner AWOL and it run as her personal fiefdom by his secretary, or something, I can’t get at the delawareonline archive back far enough but maybe you could do some research before you get all excited.
C’mon, man. We’ve been onto this grifter for years.
We were also on to the previous grifter. You know, the guy who covered up Dock Cathcart’s misdeeds at Del State.
Doesn’t make Park City’s misdeeds less consequential.
In tandem, they make a great argument for the creation of an Inspector General’s office.
But Speaker Pete has made sure that it won’t happen on his watch.
Delaware Way corruption continues unabated.
All due respect El Som but I don’t think an appointed IG is the answer. Granted it would be better than the shitshow we have now which is a national embarrassment, but in the long run it would only further entrench the Delaware Way and not curb it. No appointed official can be truly independent from the person / office / party that appointed them. We need to elect a competent and independent state auditor.
Let’s focus here. There will apparently be an opportunity in early July at a meeting of New Castle County RD chairs to recommend an endorsement of her opponent, Lydia York. If you want her gone and clearly regardless of the jury’ decision on “legal guilt” letting this walking disaster remain in office is not acceptable period.
The focus is important – I think we can expect at least one phony candidate in the primary who is there to split less informed voters away from the opposition a la Karen Weldin Stewart.
Kathy McGuiness office seemed like a recipe of dysfunction and disorganization. Illegal stuff? Might be an over reach by the AG but it should def prove she should not be re elected
The only reason it’s perceived as an overreach is b/c this stuff has become so ingrained in Delaware Way DNA that basic legal and ethical standards no longer apply to government officials.
I think Jennings was right to pursue this, just as she was right to indict Rebecca Walker, regardless of what the ultimate outcomes are.
This corruption needs to be challenged over and over again.
It also needs to be emphasized that the AG’s office traditionally has NOT gone after Delaware politicians because under our Delaware Way set-up, statewide politicians are defended by the AG’s office.
Before Jennings almost all government corruption cases were brought by the Feds. This case demonstrates why — even in the best-case scenario there are moles and potential leaks all over that office.
And as I’ve said elsewhere, I would bet a fair sum of folding money that Wood has had lots of behind-the-scenes help on strategy. Do you really think he has no friends in the current AG’s office?
I’m 95% sure Steve Wood hired Mark Denney in the AG’s office, which is a funny detail. Whether there is any espionage, I couldn’t say. Seems like Wood can handle his business straight-up.
Also, for all you music heads out here, it’s my understanding that Mr Wood slaps the 5-string electric bass from time to time…. which absolutely whips ass.
Someone is falling in love.

@Jason330. hehe.. look… he’s doing what he does. It’s a great show.
BTW, thanks, everyone for the support and patronage. Big two weeks. And remember, the more you can convince your friends to become $5/mo. patrons, the more madcap stunts like this we can pull!
I’ll be on the 301 bus to Dover tomorrow a.m. Our review of Friday’s half day is recorded! Should be out for your morning commute.
Also, we published another great story in the Call from Asya Jones today and one on Fort Dupont Friday especially for Steve. Lol..
