FACT: The Trump-appointed IRS Commissioner has said that families under that threshold are LESS likely to be audited—‘better technology and customer service would also make it less likely that compliant taxpayers would be audited.’

FACT: New audits will focus on high-end tax evasion: big corporations and the wealthiest Americans who use loopholes and armies of accountants to avoid paying their fair share.

FACT: The IRS is not planning on hiring “87,000 new auditors.” What is true? The IRS has lost a third of its employees since 2010. Hiring more staff is intended to fill that gap and create a more efficient team that should be more responsive to taxpayers’ concerns.

FACT: Roughly half the new IRS funds will be spent on operations, tech modernization, and taxpayer services. Why? Because Americans expect them to be better at reducing backlogs, paying refunds, and correctly dispatching auditors.

A better funded IRS is a win for our country: fewer audits for you, more money to ensure that everyone plays by the same rules, and billions of dollars to reduce the deficit. It’s one more way that the Democrats’ new law is a win for Delaware.
