It is hard to imagine an end to the Russian invasion of Ukraine that doesn’t include Putin being deposed and killed.
Satellite photos show 10-mile-long traffic jam at Russian border
Lot’s of bad news for Russia, but here is a little ray of sunshine.
Orthodox Church leader says Russian soldiers dying in Ukraine will be cleansed of sin
Did you know that the Cherokee Nation agreed to relocate to Oklahoma (the trail of tears) in exchange for representation in congress that they never got? Now you do.
The protests won’t lead to regime change, Iran’s foreign minister tells NPR
Who really needs clean water and LGBTQ rights anyway?
“he head of the Russian Orthodox Church has said that Russian soldiers who die in the war against Ukraine will be cleansed of all their sin”
Russian worship, go fuck yourself.
“Feeling guilty? Sign up to die!” As recruiting slogans go, that one needs work.
The patriarch is basically saying the only good Russian is a dead Russian. Ukrainian troops stand ready to deliver the sacrament.
People act surprised at the zombie-like cult that follows Trump. How is it different from the zombie-like cult that has followed tax cuts all these years?
As Duncan B says, when right wing economics hit reality and blow up the economy (yet again), those failed policies somehow never loses credibility.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
This quote struck me. Why USA can fuck around with tax funding and Britain ain’t gonna be able to it but their elite doesn’t see why not.
”
If anti-Americanism was bad, look what its opposite has done. Britain is in trouble because its elite is so engrossed with the US as to confuse it for their own nation. The UK does not issue the world’s reserve currency. It does not have near-limitless demand for its sovereign debt. It can’t, as US Republicans sometimes do, cut taxes on the hunch that lawmakers of the future will trim public spending. Reaganism was a good idea. Reaganism without the dollar isn’t. If UK premier Liz Truss has a programme, though, that is its four-word expression. ”

Rupert Murdoch has poisoned the minds of a generation across all classes.
And, in national news … As Hurricane Ian starts to plow through Florida, I wonder whether DeSantis ever gave any thought to chartering planes to fly his loyal supporters to Martha’s Vineyard and numerous welcoming “sanctuary cities” up north.
P.S. — If he really wants to embarrass someone, I know there’s this country club in New Jersey ….
All of those FL homeless in harms way could use some DeSantis dollars about now.
The fun part will be watching all those homeowners who don’t get any insurance money because of the hurricane clause so many Florida p&c companies have cooked into their policies and how many of this companies will declare bankruptcy in the next month
Look on the bright side. They had all those years of paying no income taxes.
I have a 5% hurricane deductible in the Tampa Bay region. I have had multiple estimates over the past several weeks to replace the roof prior to installing solar. All estimates were in the $15,000 ballpark. That’s about 2% of the market value and about 4% of the insured value. Lot’s of malfeasance and insurance fraud with roofs going on down here has driven insurance companies to bankruptcy here in FL.
Doesn’t look like we’re gonna get much more from Ian here though. Manatee county and further south looks bad. Oddly enough, due to the forecast and the “certainty” of the modeling, I just assisted in an evacuation of critically ill patients from Tampa to Ruskin in Manatee County over the last couple of days. Legend has it that the spirit of the Tocobaga native Americans protect the Tampa Bay region from storms even if the white folk destroyed their community and bulldozed their holy sites.
Gee, almost reminds me of Viet Nam when young American men fled to Canada, at some point you can see the madness of war and yearn to flee. And I don’t blame them as we are no one to talk with endless war just around the corner at any given moment.
While it’s been an open secret in the neighborhood since April, one of the patriarchs of arrogant Irish politics in Forty Acres, Paul Schofield, killed a guy.

At least Gerald Brady didn’t do a murder.
The man he killed was a good friend, and one of the nicest people you’d ever want to meet. I hope that Schofield gets the maximum sentence.
Schofield and his dad are proper assholes. Arrogant pigs.
My understanding is Morris grew up in the neighborhood and had history with Schofield.
Esteban has a story up on Delaware online
I worked with Ed for the last 15 years. It breaks my heart every time I go to work and he’s not there. We used to close up shop on days that we worked together. Ed always enjoyed the ceremonial folding of the flag at the end of the day. He said that if I ever left the job, then he would as well. I never expected him to go first.
If there is any justice in this world, I hope that Schofield spends the rest of his life in prison.
FWIW, on Monday, Oct. 3, the US Supreme Court will hear arguments about whether the monies from “abandoned” Moneygram checks issued by banks should escheat to DE or to the States where the Moneygram was purchased, About 28 other States claim DE owes them between $200-400 million for taking in such such funds over the past years. A special master appointed by the Supreme Court several years ago has recommended that the Moneygram funds should go to the other States not DE under unclear provisions of a federal law,
A DE loss might be a big hit to the DE budget, potentially requiring back payments and resulting in a reduced future revenue stream,
thanks for the update. ive been wondering what happened to all this since this process started a couple years ago it seems. Delaware losing this would be a huge revenue hit, potentially up to 10%
Live by the budgetary gimmick, die by the budgetary gimmick.
Tried twice to post a comment but not happening. ??
