Evangelical RW Christians Take Pro-Abortion Stance. But only in the case of Herschel Walker:

Pastor Anthony George didn’t set out to be a defender of Herschel Walker.

But as the prominent Baptist minister welcomed Walker into his church this week for a scheduled prayer event with faith leaders, George found himself making the Christian case for supporting a candidate whose Senate campaign has been marred by personal scandal.

What matters most, he said, is what Walker is promising to do once he’s elected.

“I think that any Christian who engages in the political process — and especially someone who’s a pastor — you’re always going to be confronted with someone that is either less than ideal, or something that flat-out contradicts what you believe in,” George said in an interview.

Since revelations surfaced that the former football star and self-described “pro-life” Republican had allegedly paid for an ex-girlfriend’s abortion in 2009, evangelical Christian leaders in Georgia have banded together to support Walker, as has the Republican Party in general. Walker has staked out a hard-line, “no exceptions” position on abortion.

Oh. So you can be a baby-killer if you say that you will implement a ‘no exceptions’ position on future abortions.  Got it.

First, chess.  Then, poker.  Then, competitive fishing.  But Cheating In Competitive Irish Dancing??  Looks like, OK, I’ll say it, the jig is up:

The CLRG, which is Ireland’s oldest established organisation for Irish dancing, said: “Such unethical behaviour cannot and will not be tolerated by this organisation.”

A statement was first issued to members via email last week, and that has been seen by BBC News NI.

It said: “The evidence apparently dates back several years and identifies individuals allegedly offering various inducements (sex) to promote dancers to a higher than deserved placing at particular competitions.

“It is believed that there are a number of teachers and schools implicated in the allegations.”

Cheating in faux sports is rampant everywhere.  Can cornhole be far behind?

How Election Deniers Paved The Way To Steal Elections In Wisonsin.:

But on a more fundamental level, the election deniers succeeded. They helped change the way Election Day will look in 2022 for crucial midterm elections in Wisconsin — and they are creating an even more favorable climate for Trump and Republicans in 2024.

This summer, the conservative majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court banned most drop boxes for ballots, which had provided another quick and convenient method of voting during the pandemic, rather than relying on the mail. Until a federal judge intervened, the ruling also meant that people with disabilities could not have help delivering their ballots to their municipal clerks.

More recently, in Waukesha County, a judge sided with the Republican Party in a ruling that barred local clerks from fixing even minor errors or omissions — such as a missing ZIP code — on absentee ballot envelopes. The clerks could contact the voter or return the ballot to be corrected. In a state already known for limiting voter access, this was another example of a push toward more controls.

And the Wisconsin Assembly and the Senate, both dominated by Republicans, have passed a raft of bills that would tighten voting laws. Each was vetoed by Gov. Tony Evers, a Democrat. But Evers is in a close race for reelection against Republican Tim Michels, who has said that “on day one” he will call a special session of the Legislature to “fix the election mess.”

Tennis vs. Pickleball: Sport vs. Entertainment For The Elderly.  I took the plunge yesterday, and watched a video on how to play pickleball.  My conclusion?  It sucks. Oh, and isn’t a sport.

This Is What Happens When The State Cuts Deals In Secrecy.  How the port deal got so screwed up:

After years of financial turmoil, the operator of the Port of Wilmington on Monday created a new leadership team composed of two corporate restructuring experts and a former cabinet member to Gov. John Carney.

The state of the port today comes in stark contrast to the vision Emirati port operator Gulftainer pitched before taking over operations in 2018. Then, Gulftainer officials said they could transform the Port of Wilmington into one of the East Coast’s largest gateways and potentially double the number of jobs at the port.

Four years later, the port operator owes Delaware at least $3 million, a promised new facility has yet to be built and the state is still subsidizing some port operations.
