Supreme Court (!) Says ‘No’ To Trump’s Rope-A-Dope.  The decision in its entirety:

The application to vacate the stay entered by the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit on September 21, 2022, presented to Justice Thomas and by him referred to the
Court is denied.

Big Increase In Social Security Benefits:

Millions of Social Security recipients will get an 8.7% boost in their benefits in 2023, a historic increase but a gain that will be eaten up in part by the rising cost of everyday living.

The cost-of living adjustment — the largest in more than 40 years — means the average recipient will receive more than $140 extra a month beginning in January, the Social Security Administration said Thursday.

The boost in Social Security benefits will be coupled with a 3% drop in Medicare Part B premiums, meaning retirees will get the full impact of the Social Security increase.

“This year’s substantial Social Security cost-of-living adjustment is the first time in over a decade that Medicare premiums are not rising and shows that we can provide more support to older Americans who count on the benefits they have earned,” said the Social Security Administration’s acting commissioner, Kilolo Kijakazi.

President Joe Biden on Thursday afternoon echoed the sentiment that the Medicare premium reduction would have some impact on retirees’ wallets. “Seniors are gonna get ahead of inflation next year,” Biden said. “For the first time in 10 years, their Social Security checks will go up while their Medicare premiums go down.”

Every Democrat everywhere should campaign on this news…except…here in Delaware, John Carney and Claire Dematteis have…well, you know the rest.  I have a question on that, though. Where the fuck was AFSCME when all this was going down?

Don’t Rake Your Leaves!  It’s better to leave them and let nature take its course:

Autumn is upon us, and that might mean the leaves in your yard are starting to change color and fall to the ground.

But if you were planning to add raking the yard and bagging up leaves to your weekend to-do list, think again. Experts say raking and removing leaves can be worse for your yard – and for the planet, too.

Leaving at least some of the leaves in your yard can help fertilize your grass and other plants, provide shelter for animals and even reduce emissions from landfills. Here’s what you need to know about managing the leaves on your lawn this fall.

Don’t rake leaves?  Don’t have to tell me twice.

‘The Senator David B. McBride Bathhouse’.  A new restaurant could be located right near there.  It is, of course, in the Sussex County beach area.   You know, where McBride lived and lives.  Naming a Suxco bathhouse after him is my idea of a great cosmic joke.  It happened because everybody in the General Assembly knew that he lived there.
