The US Senate has passed the Respect for Marriage Act, legislation to protect same-sex unions that Democrats are hurrying to get to Joe Biden to be signed into law before Republicans take over the House next year.
The House must now pass the bill, a step the majority leader, Steny Hoyer, said could come as soon as Tuesday 6 December. Nearly 50 House Republicans supported the measure earlier this year.
§2384. Seditious Conspiracy
If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.
Why ‘Union Joe’ put the screws to rail workers
“As a proud pro-labor President, I am reluctant to override the ratification procedures and the views of those who voted against the agreement,” the president said in a statement. “But in this case — where the economic impact of a shutdown would hurt millions of other working people and families — I believe Congress must use its powers to adopt this deal.”
See also, the Confederate ancestors of about a quarter of this country. How shameful it would be to be the progeny of traitors.
You know how the Confederates used to use the “one drop” rule — if a person had “one drop” of Black blood, that person was legally Black?
What if, instead, we used the one drop rule the opposite way — one drop of white blood made one legally white?
Bernie Sanders on the rail workers strike:
“Guaranteeing 7 paid sick days to rail workers would cost the rail industry a grand total of $321 million a year – less than 2% of its profits. Please don’t tell me the rail industry can’t afford it. Rail companies spent $25.5 billion on stock buybacks and dividends this year.”
Well thank goodness we got to the bottom of that seditious conspiracy. It was that Oathkeepers dude! You know, that guy who looks like a comic book villain. He was the mastermind! And no unindicted co-conspirators were found. Now justice has been done and we can put this insurrection business behind us.
Was hoping to see many more charged with sedition, supposedly a hard case to win it would have “sent a message” to the armed militias. Instead of tough love we got a festival of white privilege and savage slaps on the wrist that in my opinion primed the pump for more political violence.
I wouldn’t feel personally ashamed to be the “progeny of traitors” (at least distant ones), but I would wholeheartedly wish they hadn’t done what they did.
