Song of the Day 1/5: The Eagles, “Witchy Woman”
Christine O’Donnell was merely ahead of her time. An alleged Republican witch, one Anna Paulina Luna, has been elected to Congress from Florida. Like O’Donnell, she denies it.
This all came out via lawsuit. Seems a MAGAt who chickened out of primarying her claimed he was told — by someone from Hispanics for Trump — that Luna “puts spells on people,” apparently a widely whispered rumor in Republican Latino circles. He said this on the Bubba the Love Sponge radio program — something I didn’t realize still existed — so Luna has sued for defamation. She’s a Charlie Kirk-backed MAGAt herself, so she knows the lyrics to “I’m the Victim Here” by heart.
This song cast a spell of its own — it was Don Henley’s first co-writing credit. The lyrics he penned to Bernie Leadon’s slow, sinuous guitar riff brought the Eagles their first Top 10 single back in 1972. Henley credits it with kick-starting his songwriting career, which is amusing considering that his bandmates later mocked his habit of modifying others’ lyrics to gain songwriting royalties under the oft-derided principle “change a word, get a third.”
Wasn’t Crist one the Republican Gov of Florida?
When “moderate” & “centrist” Dems get their asses handed to them by lunatic Republicans why isn’t the narrative – “Moderate & centrist Dems get their asses handed to them by lunatic Republicans.”
Because people keep telling pollsters that they want everyone to just get along, and people like Chris Coons take that as wisdom received from the oracle at Delphi, rather than what it is — the random musings of people so dim-witted they can’t avoid answering questions from pollsters.
