Gun Nutism Running Riot in Maryland – OK to bring guns to school provided you don’t shoot anyone
The fallacy that animates all gun-nutism is that gun owners are all perfectly rational and reasonable up until the moment they pull the trigger.
Under new Maryland law, student doesn’t face charges after bringing gun to school
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A 12-year-old boy escaped legal consequences after he brought a gun to school earlier this week, according to Anne Arundel County police.
On Thursday, police say the school resource officer at MacArthur Middle School was notified of a 12-year-old student who had a handgun, loaded magazine, and loose ammunition in a bag at the school.
The school says an investigation found that a handgun and magazine were found inside the fanny pack, but the gun was not loaded with bullets inside of the chamber; only a magazine with ammunition was found inside of the gun.
Fifty years ago when I attended an elementary school in Cecil County, Maryland a hunter’s safety course was part of the curriculum for all 6th graders that included a trip to the State Police rifle range where we all fired 22s from 50 yards.
I will be carrying now everywhere I go. I’m not gonna be ambushed by any 6 year old!
Any kid makes a furtive move you can go ahead and merck them. Stand your ground, folks, as the founders intented.
Right-wingers want to make “praise the Lord and pass the ammunition” a school motto.
OK, had to look up the history of that song. Written by Frank Loesser in 1942 in response to Pearl Harbor:

Gun mayhem and ocean’s of spilled blood aside, on a practical, electoral level this kind of flatly absurd extremism should be easy for Maryland Democrats to run against.
“My opponent supports 12 year olds being able to bring guns to school.” seems like a easy ad to make.
I’m not sure I want 12 year olds to be criminally charged. I don’t know much about the juvenile justice system though.
Democrats have a veto-proof majority in MD. I imagine this law was an attempt at criminal justice reform, rather than gun nuttery.
Also, there is an adult gun owner who should be held accountable here.
The “gun nutters” label is unfair, really. Many of these people are versatile, all-around nutters.
