I’ve been wondering about this.

If this deal happens it could empower Democrats too

Surely someone else has thought of this:

After a humiliating three-day stretch of 11 consecutive defeats in an election that is now the most protracted such contest since 1859, Mr. McCarthy dispatched his emissaries to hammer out a deal with the ultraconservative rebels, including agreeing to conditions he had previously refused to countenance in a last-ditch effort to sway a critical mass of defectors.

They included allowing a single lawmaker to force a snap vote at any time to oust the speaker, a rule that would effectively codify a standing threat that Mr. McCarthy would be at the mercy of the right wing at all times, and could be removed instantly if he crossed them.

Yeah but wouldn’t he also be at the mercy of Democrats? If any single Congressperson can force a snap vote, couldn’t one Democrat throw Republicans back into this week’s chaos at any time by forcing a new referendum on McCarthy’s leadership? Wouldn’t that be a great way to constantly derail the Republicans?
For example what if Speaker McCarthy calls for a vote to create a new a House Select Committee for Revenge and the Showing of Hunter Biden Dick Pics. Couldn’t Ilhan Omar stand up, thank McCarthy for excluding an investigation of the 2020 election from the committee’s jurisdiction, motion for a new vote for speaker, and sit back to watch the circus?

I suppose Democrats could call a snap vote when enough Republicans are out of town so Jeffries becomes Speaker, followed by a quick rules change.

Or just threaten to do that move, so Republicans can never leave town.

Actually I think the rules are that when a rep makes a motion to vacate, the Speaker must schedule a vote, but it doesn’t have to be that day. But it’s a fun thought.

I agree, at best it’s a two edged sword that can cut both ways. But admit it, if the goal is to be annoying and to eff with certain people it’s a gift from the gods. Would not be surprised to see a far right rush to be the first to play this game. Greene? Boebert? Just for fun Santos?
