The Sham That Is Trump-Style Populism: This crisis is entirely of the party’s own making. For decades it has whipped its base into a righteous fury by promising radical policies that offer emotional satisfaction to their hardline constituents — from rolling back Medicare and Social Security to defaulting on the national debt to eliminating whole […]

Gun Nutism Running Riot in Maryland – OK to bring guns to school provided you don’t shoot anyone

The fallacy that animates all gun-nutism is that gun owners are all perfectly rational and reasonable up until the moment they pull the trigger.

Under new Maryland law, student doesn’t face charges after bringing gun to school

Police say a 12-year-old boy brought a gun to MacArthur Middle School on Jan. 5, 2023. (Anne Arundel County police)

A 12-year-old boy escaped legal consequences after he brought a gun to school earlier this week, according to Anne Arundel County police.

On Thursday, police say the school resource officer at MacArthur Middle School was notified of a 12-year-old student who had a handgun, loaded magazine, and loose ammunition in a bag at the school.

The school says an investigation found that a handgun and magazine were found inside the fanny pack, but the gun was not loaded with bullets inside of the chamber; only a magazine with ammunition was found inside of the gun.

If this Trans Rights Map Holds Up, Biden Wins by 2 EC Votes

I plotted the states with Trans Protections vs Trans Antagonism on the Electoral College map and if Trans views correspond to Presidential preference, Joe Biden holds a very narrow lead.   Erin Reed is a researcher, mother, content creator, activist, writer and a transwoman who works “to achieve gender justice for queer and marginalized people through […]

Song of the Day 1/7: J. Geils Band, “Give It to Me”

Matt Gaetz admitted that he finally voted “present” to allow Kevin McCarthy to become Speaker of the House because he had run out of things to ask for. McCarthy failed to learn the lesson Paul Ryan and John Boehner so clearly laid out for him — if you cede the power of the position, there’s […]

McCarthy Completes Blow Job Just In Time For Gaetz To Cum To His Rescue.  I’m not the most scatological contributor on here, but no other metaphor will suffice.  This could well be the Worst Figurative Blowjob In HISTORY.  Haven’t scoured the intertubes yet, but I’m sure I’m not the only one to come cum to […]

MCCARTHY AGREES TO SUPPORT PUTIN’S WAR AGAINST UKRAINE AND TO DEFAULT ON THE DEBT IN ORDER TO BECOME SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE

Filed in National by on January 6, 2023 6 Comments

That headline is from LGM. I don’t think it is hyperbole. He gave away a lot. It looks like Putin and people who want the United States to default and crash the world economy (because that is bad for Biden) won. Of course President Manchin (WV) could have taken the debt ceiling thing off the table, but empowering shitheads and creeps is the new big thing in Washington.

Song of the Day 1/6: The Beach Boys, “Do It Again”

We all know Kevin McCarthy isn’t the brightest bulb on the GOP Christmas tree — to be fair, a lot of those lights don’t work at all — so I’m guessing he’s never heard about Sisyphus. If he had he might not keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome. […]

Remind me again–who were the Rethug House members who voted to throw out the Presidential election results from 2020?  Never mind. Here they are.  Gee, sure seems like it’s a whole lot more than the ‘bomb-throwers’ who the McCarthy forces are castigating.  Including McCarthy himself and the so-called ‘compromise’ candidate Steve Scalise.  I don’t think […]

Song of the Day 1/5: The Eagles, “Witchy Woman”

Christine O’Donnell was merely ahead of her time. An alleged Republican witch, one Anna Paulina Luna, has been elected to Congress from Florida. Like O’Donnell, she denies it. This all came out via lawsuit. Seems a MAGAt who chickened out of primarying her claimed he was told — by someone from Hispanics for Trump — […]

McCarthy Gives Away Everything.  Will It Net Him The Speakership?: During late-hour negotiations Wednesday, Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) made fresh concessions to a group of 20 lawmakers in hopes of ending their blockade of his speakership ahead of votes Thursday, according to four people familiar with the talks who spoke on the condition of anonymity to […]

Song of the Day 1/4: Lit, “My Own Worst Enemy”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on January 4, 2023 0 Comments

This one’s for Kevin McCarthy, whose capacity for self-embarrassment appears limitless. Like McCarthy, Lit hails from California, though from Orange County, not Bakersfield. This track, a single from their 1999 sophomore LP “A Place in the Sun,” took months to rise to No. 1 on the Modern Rock chart, but it’s had a long afterlife. […]
