Why does John Carney hate pedestrians?

Among civilized states – Delaware has the highest rate of pedestrian fatalities

“Your blogging licensing and registration, please”

I hope this Desantis style “freedom” doesn’t come to Delaware.  I’d hate to have to register with the state just to continue pointing out that Chris Coons is a corporate lickspittle, and Lisa Blunt Rochester keeps two horseshoe crabs as pets.

Florida Sen. Jason Brodeur (R-Lake Mary) wants bloggers who write about Gov. Ron DeSantis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, and other members of the Florida executive cabinet or legislature to register with the state or face fines.

Brodeur’s proposal, Senate Bill 1316: Information Dissemination, would require any blogger writing about government officials to register with the Florida Office of Legislative Services or the Commission on Ethics.

In the bill, Brodeur wrote that those who write “an article, a story, or a series of stories,” about “the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, a Cabinet officer, or any member of the Legislature,” and receives or will receive payment for doing so, must register with state offices within five days after the publication of an article that mentions an elected state official.

If another blog post is added to a blog, the blogger would then be required to submit monthly reports on the 10th of each month with the appropriate state office. They would not have to submit a report on months when no content is published.

On a related note – how is it that the media can only use the term “over playing their hand” when a Democrat wants to use elective office for something?  It seems no matter what Republicans propose, their hands can never be overplayed.

The American conservative movement now makes sense to me

(What we think of as the American conservative movement is basically the accretion of tactics) designed to corral the easily fleeceable multitudes all in one place—and create in them a mindset that makes it impossible for them discern where the ideological con ends and the money con begins.

Republicans do know how to keep party message disciple.

A censure by the Republican Party of Texas would underline how the two-term congressman’s willingness to break with conservatives on key issues during his short time in office has caused GOP activists and some colleagues alike to bristle.

If that Florida bill passes I will post something every day about Ron DeShitface. Come and get me, coppers!

Lots of court room fun to be had with the famed “papers please” moment for bloggers. To mangle the words of Ralph Cramden: Bang, zoom, to the courtroom” it shall go as the collective stupidity of Florida seeks to over ride the first amendment. To also mangle Pogo: We have met the enemy, and he is the Nazi version of us.

John carney has about as much regard for pedestrians as his son has for drowning fraternity pledges.

Joking aside, deldot could care less about building pedestrian/bicycle infrastructure. Half the bike lanes I ride in are full of potholes, crumbling asphalt, or debris from motor vehicle accidents. It’s a shame those federal highway dollars don’t come with more concrete requirements for non-motorized transportation that included design and engineering for long term maintenance

    • Delaware Joe says:

Bike lanes are BS. How many people do you see using them for commuting?

      • liberalgeek says:

I think you have stumbled upon the issue here. Who wants to commute on a bike lane that routinely is falling apart or has car parts strewn along it? Nevermind that sometimes those bike lanes just up and disappear as well.

It’s a nightmare to commute on Delaware roads. I’ve done it from Glasgow to New Castle and I regularly went 5 miles further on my bike than car so that I could feel safe sharing the road.

      • Arthur says:

How is it possible to commute on a bike in DE? Whos going to ride from Newark, Bear, Claymont, Pike Creek, Hockessin, Townsend to Wilmington of vice versa? If we had that many people riding a bike to work we’d have a better public transportation system because there would be a want for it

        • Alby says:

Getting to and from Wilmington is not the problem with public transit. The problem is getting from, say, Newark to Middletown, or Bear to Hockessin. The system funnels you through Wilmington no matter what.

As for “who,” that would be “people who ride bicycles regularly.” Especially now that bicycles are being fitted with electric motors to flatten the hills.

Blogger registration: I’ve seen articles including comments from sharp-tongued and outraged bloggers, many humorous. Haven’t yet seen articles including comments from a respected legal source soberly explaining that this is a prima facie First Amendment violation.
