Trump is the weight about to flatten the GOP…again
It isn’t just DL Readers and Lurkers who know how toxic Trump is, the GOP says “Thanks, but no thanks”
Senate Republicans, including members of leadership and even Trump allies, say former President Trump should stay out of the 2024 Senate primaries, hoping to avoid a repeat of last year’s disappointing midterm elections.
They view Trump as becoming more of a political liability in next year’s Senate races as his legal problems mount. .
GOP lawmakers and strategists fear Trump will mire GOP candidates in debates over his pet issues such as election fraud and defunding the Department of Justice instead of issues that more voters care about.

Anti-‘Groomer’ Republican Accused of ‘Inappropriate Relationship’ With Intern

You guys all falling for this again? Ok.
Doing same thing over and over, REV it’s truly insane. Some things never change!
To be fair, it is not “you guys” but me. But I’m also the guy who said Trump could win in 2016, so the is my first time stepping into this mire.
Were it up to me, in 2024 the GOP would nominate…no one…
Believe Trump will run regardless of charges or convictions, he has nothing to lose but other peoples money and they continue to give it to him, so why not? The Republican goal remains to win, no matter what it takes as they see it as but a prelude to the hell they want to inflict. If Trump advances the Republicans will recant at the speed of light and deny all previous doubts. But as ever believe it when you see it.
Agree with all of that, and will add that “free and fair” elections are not on the GOP agenda when it comes to winning. So with the EC and states making up rules on the fly, it’s a coin flip.
I’m with rob on this one. I don’t know any enthusiastic Biden supporters and trump fatigue has disengaged a lot of otherwise mainstream dems. This is the same setup for 2016 all over again. Better for trump to be out of the picture so the republicans can eat themselves. Make no mistake, they will fall in line all over again if he is seen as the shortest route to the White House.
Perhaps, but I have a very annoying habit of being right about this kind of thing.
As it stands there are two great outcomes for Joe Biden. 1) Trump wins the nomination. 2) Trump loses the nomination.
#1 is good for all the reasons we all know. #2 is good because Trump will not lose the nomination with dignity and aplomb. He will burn the GOP’s motherfucking house down if they collectively decide DeSantis is the guy.
I don’t think #1 is a good outcome for Biden. He isn’t a strong candidate and he looks physically frail next to trump. Biden got elected in spite of himself, with people fed up over trumps pandemic response and 4 years of chaos. I’m not willing to gamble that a fragmented and exhausted democratic electorate is going to show up the same way this time around.
“He isn’t a strong candidate and he looks physically frail next to trump.”
I lol’ed. Buck up little buck-a-roo. The dems will show up strong. Trump and the GOP keep going out of their way to alienate anyone who isn’t 100% MAGA.
But I get it. You have to worry, so how about worrying about the nearly 300 youth pastors we have in Delaware roaming the streets?
Truly, nothing makes my skin crawl like the soft, clammy hands of a youth pastor
