Comment Rescue – Is it even possible to get a decent human being to be Secretary of Finance?
The comment below, by Former Representative John Kowalko, reminded me of Chomsky’s observation that journalism cannot be a check on corporate power because the very system that produces journalists encourages complicity. Journalist themselves are the product of a lengthy vetting process to ensure only people who stick to the corporate line get to ask any questions.
Similarly, can anyone who isn’t some version of Rick Geisenberger, Cerron Cade or Claire DeMatteis even get close to real policy making?
Will you replace the current Secretary of Finance (Geisenberger) and Director of OMB (Cade) and Secretary of Human Resources (DeMatteis) if elected? Anything less than an unequivocal yes disqualifies the candidate.
That might all sound pretty bad, but I’m sure “Rick” is one of those “down to earth” 1%ers who is very in touch this the needs of the average retiree.
Yeah Rick’s “down to earth” like most snakes. John Kowalko
Figuratively speaking, retirees need to drive a wooden stake through Geisenberger’s frozen heart.
I guess I’ve become a lot more nihilistic in my old age because I’m 85% sure some other vampire will just rise up to take his place.
So, as with every headline that ends with a question mark, the answer is no.
Just read this from Cerron Cade’s bio:
Throughout his career in public service, Cerron has worked as a Legislative Aide in the
Delaware State House of Representatives, Deputy County Director for U.S. Senator Tom Carper, Projects Director for then Congressman John Carney, and Legislative Liaison for former Governor Jack Markell.
If sausage produced in that slaughter house is not something out of Upton Sinclair’s worst nightmare, I don’t know what is.
