DeSantis Campaign Launch With Musk Ruined By Twitter Meltdown

Proving once again that satire is dead:

Ron DeSantis’s long-awaited official entry into the 2024 presidential campaign went haywire for almost a half-hour on Wednesday during a glitch-filled livestream over Twitter.

The technical problems eventually subsided but seriously marred what should have been a climactic moment for Mr. DeSantis, the combative 44-year-old governor of Florida who has been seen as the most formidable Republican rival that former President Donald J. Trump has faced since his ascent in 2016.

The social media site’s servers were apparently overloaded, crashing repeatedly. Twenty minutes into the “broadcast,” Mr. DeSantis had yet to be heard from, though Twitter personnel could be heard lamenting the situation.

Nearly a half-hour in, Mr. DeSantis got the microphone to declare, “I am running for president of the United States to lead our great American comeback.” But by then, hundreds of thousands of listeners had abandoned the platform, Mr. Trump’s super PAC was mocking him, and even President Biden’s campaign had joined the schadenfreude.

Y’know, those who identify as Deists posit that some divine force created the universe, but He/She/They no longer hang around dictating and sweating the details.

I’m no longer so sure.
