‘Bulo’s Fave Tunes: May, 2023

Yeahyeahyeah, I know, lots more singer/songwriter, less diversity, than usual.  Hey, I can only work with what comes my way.  Besides, these are good singer/songwriters, and I’ve unearthed a RIGHTEOUS Curtis Mayfield cover.  Plus I’ve now introduced you to AJJ, Nourished By Time, and Summer Salt.  So stop yer complainin’!

While I have no idea what Nathan Arizona’s fave will be this month, I’m gravitating towards AJJ:

XPN beat me to the punch on this guy.  Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then…:

I’d put Summer Salt at the top, a mellow but breezy way to start the day. Maya Ongatu seems good for winding down late at night, but mild Asian psychedelia would work for me pretty much anytime. I like Robert Ellis a lot, but mainly with a band. I’m partial to “The Lights From the Chemical Plant,” title track of an album from a few years ago. Also, the volume for the Ellis song is set kind of low here. The Stephen Sanchez and Billy Valentine songs are nice. I like the Buck Meek song, but maybe they should take off the hats and put on some shirts.

  2. Yeah, that “Lights From The Chemical Plant” track remains my fave by him. Made my faves of the year list. Kinda surprised he didn’t make it bigger.
