Why aren’t Delaware Democrats doing anything?  I know, Pete liked to pretend that the withered rump of the DEGOP held some power, but that was (and is) bullshit,  We’re all adults here, right.  We can handle the truth.

I need to call this out…. Delaware Democrats have a supermajority in both houses…and a Delaware Democrat at all levels of State government.

We have had a democrat as Governor since 1993.
We have a democrat Lt. Governor since 1993
We have a democrat Senate Majority since 1973
We have a democrat President Pro tempore since 1973
We have a democrat House Majority since 2009
We have a democrat Speaker since 2009.

You don’t just need a trifecta to do what Minnesota Democrats did in their legislature this year. You need to get that trifecta understanding what the stakes are and having an ideologically consistent party fighting Republicans. We have the trifecta all the time in Rhode Island, but that doesn’t mean we are doing good stuff like this. But really, what Minnesota Democrats did this year is quite impressive.

“This was a bonanza year without precedent,” said Larry Jacobs, a political science professor at the University of Minnesota, highlighting the fact that the recently passed two-year budget is 40 percent larger than the current one. “Minnesota is an example of a full-on progressive gallop towards greater government activism and a willingness to spend just unimaginable amounts of money.”

Ron DeSantis Deathwatch Clock – 10 minutes to midnight

My August 15th prediction seems rock solid.

If you’ll remember the last time we discussed Incel Chieftain Ron DeSantis the story was that even though his polling numbers had faltered and campaign discourse had settled into describing his deep personal weirdness he was still sitting on a mountain of money. Well, maybe not. Now DeSantis has been forced to fire staff amid a spending crunch. A campaign insider tells Politico the number was “fewer than 10 staffers.” NBC says it was a dozen. The first reports tried to suggest this was part of a strategy shift as opposed to spending woes. But in those terms the new strategy seems to be to not run out of money before the end of the summer.

AAA will not renew the auto and home insurance policies for some customers in Florida, joining a growing list of insurers dialing back their presence in the Sunshine State amid a growing risk of natural disasters.

“Unfortunately, Florida’s insurance market has become challenging in recent years,” the company said in a statement emailed to CBS MoneyWatch. “Last year’s catastrophic hurricane season contributed to an unprecedented rise in reinsurance rates, making it more costly for insurance companies to operate.”

AAA declined to say how many customers won’t have their policies renewed, saying only that the change will affect “a small percentage” of policy holders.

“So, knock on wood, we won’t have a big storm this summer. Then I think you’re going to start to see companies see an advantage,” DeSantis added.

Admit you got me with “Apotropaic”, had to look it up. Good one! Agree about Minnesota, unlike our beloved Delaware their getting it done, here the Dems are awaiting their corporate orders. As for Florida the insurance companies know a stinker when they see one, they took a rather savage beating from the last hurricane and now cut and run before the next one. DeSantis? Fascism and a suck ass personality just don’t sell well.

Full disclosure. I had to look it up too. I knew there was a word for doing stuff like hanging up the horseshoe and making a sign of the cross. Now I’ll never forget it.

Why aren’t we getting anything done? Too many “nice” legislators willing to go along to get along. No one is willing to get nasty or personnel. No one was willing to stand up to John carney and call him a tool and a sellout to his face
