To figure out if Jason Aldean’s song is pro-lynching pay attention to what the Klan and MAGAs say about it. They’ll let you know.

Jason Aldean
@Jason_Aldean
In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. These references are not only meritless, but dangerous. There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far.

As so many pointed out, I was present at Route 91-where so many lost their lives- and our community recently suffered another heartbreaking tragedy. NO ONE, including me, wants to continue to see senseless headlines or families ripped apart.

“Not a single video clip that isn’t news footage…”

As if the selection of which footage to include wasn’t full of conscious choices.

A country musician is a shitbag? Knock me over with a feather.

Speaking of which, TNJ’s fluffing of Jimmie Allen continues.

I figured this was overblown, but once you read the lyrics it’s even worse than you imagined. Revolting. He’s practically describing the good old days of Sundown Towns.

  3. Another Mike says:

There actually is video that is not from news footage. All the video toward the end that shows wholesome small-town America – cookouts, baseball, farmers – includes all white people. The protest and crime videos are nearly all of Black people, except for the one white lady giving the cops the finger (which is constitutionally protected).

The usual right-wing bleating about cancel culture has begun. Funny, I don’t recall any of this teeth-knashing about the Dixie Chicks. Or Colin Kaepernick.

I am now going back to my normal existence of not listening to country music except for Johnny Cash.

As noted read the lyrics, they’ve got more racist dog whistles then a Trump speech. Remember a stalker song the fools played from five years or so ago. Pay attention, the south remains a hot bed of simmering racial hatred. And yeah, Jim Crow is alive, and well in place in the south.

    • ben says:

simmering? its a full rolling boil.

See how far ya make it down the road
Around here, we take care of our own
You cross that line, it won’t take long
For you to find out, I recommend you don’t
Try that in a small town.

Got a gun that my granddad gave me
They say one day they’re gonna round up
Well, that shit might fly in the city, good luck

Full of good ol’ boys, raised up right
If you’re looking for a fight
Try that in a small town

If he’s so worried about crime in cities, maybe he should move his Nashville bar to a small town. I saw an article that his bar is a top consumer of police resources in Nashville with 34 recent arrests there.
Kid Rock’s bar has 24. You know its bad when you’re worse than Kid Rock…

  6. He wrote that song specifically for the anti-woke backlash that would ensue–and the sales that go with it.

Look for it to be played more than once at every single Rethuglican get-together through the election.

    Observation:
Why on a blog named “Delaware Liberal” is polling for a “traditional democrat” leading results for a “progressive democrat”?

    • We don’t have the technology to prevent stuffing the e-mailbox.

      • Alby says:

And as a result the insecure mooks who’ve run the Democratic Party in Delaware for generations and their feeble-minded minions freep such polls.

We don’t much care because they’re for entertainment value only.

  8. Alby says:

Try singing this in North Philly, Mr. Aldean.

They’re scared shitless of modern life. Modern America is the result.

    • Jean says:

Depends which neighborhood- specifically the ones that worship Rizzo

      • Alby says:

There aren’t any of those in North Philly. You’re thinking of the Great Northeast.

        • Jean says:

I never considered port Richmond to be the great northeast, but I agree that the sentiment increases that way

          • Alby says:

I never considered Port Richmond to be anything but Port Richmond, just as K&A is K&A. Neither one is called “North Philly” by people in Philly.
