Wait…Avelo doesn’t suck?
I flew out of New Castle on Frontier once, and it was horrible. Now this…
Greetings from Myrtle Beach! I’m staying with my parents again for a week down in Trump Country in their Never Trump home.
Happy to report that I flew out of Wilmington for the first time on Avelo. Great flight and low prices. I’m a convert.
Avelo connects Delaware to all your favorite red states.
Red states are home to blue majority cities, like Savannah…
I see that they have all these little networks. If the midwest routes grow a little it may be possible to get somewhere decent eventually.
Broward and Palm Beach Counties are blue and I flew to Palm Beach and then spent a few days in Broward in Ft Lauderdale in March. Avelo was a pleasant experience for a no frills airline. Their business model is leisure travel. They serve blue and purple states on the west coast. there is a glimmer of hope in Florida with the rise of Maxwell Frost who is amazing!
Hi fellas! 👋 Yes it was a fine flight on a 737-800 with friendly attendants and airport employees with lots of smiley faces. A lovely trip.
I can’t say I enjoyed walking from Lot C — practically the old Air Transport Command parking lot — all the way to the terminal on this hot day, but other than that, it was a pleasant experience.
Hi Andrew. I was on the flight too! I’m in Charleston for the weekend. I was super impressed with the entire experience, except maybe the cramped waiting area in Wilmington, but given the cost and convenience, I’m not complaining. I hope this experiment works. Flying out of Wilm instead of Philly paying super low fares is no small perk. I overheard one of the flight attendants say the airline is doing really well; they started with 8 attendants based in Wilmington and are up to 40 or so in the short time they’ve been operating. Also, I love that their fleet is made up of Boeings. Yea, they’re older aircraft that major airlines have since retired and sold off, but, if well-maintained, they are super reliable and damn near indestructible. Former flight attendant here who exclusively worked Boeings so I’m biased.
Oh hi!! Yes that was quite a small area for waiting. It’s definitely not built for a plane that’s fitting 180 or 200 people on it. I sat in the back area with the vending machines and it was a little quieter but not much. I would hope that can be expanded but that’s not happening any time soon. (Also, the walk on a hot day was no fun.)
Yes it was so nice to be able to drive from Dover and not have to go out of state. A big deal for me, even for someone who loves Philly and doesn’t mind the airport at all.
