Song of the Day 8/8: Run-DMC, “You Talk Too Much”

Who is this song from Run-DMC’s second album about? They never specify, but the seminal hip-hop trio hails from Queens, and they address the target of their scorn as “homie” … say, you don’t think…

Donald Trump had established himself as a public nuisance by the time “King of Rock” was released in 1985. He was riding high in those years, having not yet bankrupted any casinos, but his incessant self-promotion had already made him an object of scorn in his hometown –Spy magazine debuted the next year and frequently used Trump as punching bag.

So it’s entirely possible the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers were among the first to tell the fat-assed fabulist to put a plug in it. The latest to join that long line: his own lawyers.
