Handicapping Tonight’s GOP Shitshow

Filed in National by on August 23, 2023

Trump is going to take part in tonight’s debate courtesy of Fox News showing clips of his greatness.   That is all you basically need to know about the remaining nobodies in the stage.   I’m going to watch as much as I can prior to puking.  Here is what I’ll be looking for.

Burgum: Who? Next.

Christie: Drags Marco Rubio onto the stage to punch him. Gains 2 points in the polls.

DeSantis :Yells “I love Trump!” and stabs himself.  Gets polite applause.

Haley: Makes reasoned case for why we need to support Ukraine, which Fox News will cut away from to run a “My Pillow” ad.

Hutchinson: Who? Next.

Pence: …of hang Mike Pence fame, delivers a zinger about not being Asa Hutchison.  Only crickets respond.

Ramaswamy : Channels Kendal Roy energy to rap about not getting vaccinated with his good friend Joe Rogen.

Scott: Get’s ruffled when Ramaswamy asks him for a Diet Coke.

  1. Burgum might be out. Hurt his ankle playing hoops. Not making this up.

Oh, well, at least he raised money–for Biden:

    Pretty funny, Jason.

I’d like to hatewatch it but I don’t have a TV subscription. Maybe it will stream for free on foxnews.com, although they have a banner up now collecting your email address if you want to watch. I don’t care enough to find a pirate stream, so maybe I’ll just watch highlight clips tomorrow.

I will be watching exactly the opposite of this trash pile.

Jacques Demy’s brilliant musical “Les Demoiselles de Rochefort.”

  5. nathan arizona says:

Didn’t know there were other Jacques Demy fans here. Damn. I watched some of the debate but Ramaswamy’s teeth were hurting my eyes,

    • Andrew C says:

Yeah! I’m a big movie guy. I’ve been working my way through the Criterion Collection box set of Agnès Varda’s films, and with her relationship to Demy coming to the fore late in his life, it felt appropriate to watch his best work again.
