The weakest infrastructure week

A couple of places Trump and his defenders are saying Trump didn’t get any infrastructure done because Democrats were mean to him.

Escapee, Danelo Cavalcante, now owes Longwood Gardens $315 for a “Gardens Preferred” Level Membership

If he stays another six days he’ll be on the hook for a $575 “Garden Premium” membership.

As the search for a Pennsylvania convicted killer enters its ninth day, Delaware State Police stand at the ready should Danelo Cavalcante cross state lines.

“We are currently maintaining communication with (Pennsylvania State Police) in order to remain informed and up-to-date on relevant developments,” Delaware Police spokesperson India Sturgis said. “We are staying vigilant and have established a comprehensive strategy in the event Cavalcante enters Delaware.”

If the outcomes on guns, on the environment, on social justice are always the same no matter who is in power..if the same people always win and the same people always lose, whats the point of caring?

Fighting hard and losing is one thing,  it hurts but people can understand the justice in that.  But fighting hard and “winning” to only lose in the end in far worse.  Because then you are not only a loser but a loser who is also a sucker.

Happy Monday, Suckers.

Apparently there is talk of expanding the UD football stadium & building a new indoor practice facility at a cost of $100 million. Wouldn’t building a medical school be a better use for that money. Education and health care are two of the major economic drivers in the economy. Matt Meyer wrote an opinion piece in the News Journal last year arguing for a medical school to be built. Given the shortage of doctors in Delaware it is something that would benefit the state more than an enlarged football field.

    • UD’s been looking at moving ‘up’ to Div 1-A for awhile now.

However, with the insane NIL $$’s being tossed around and the conference musical chairs of big-time college football, I don’t see a plausible landing spot for them.

Problem is, they’re stuck in the no-man’s land of Div. 1-AA. Which is why they (and Del State) annually take one to two beatings per year from 1-A squads. For the payouts.

They could save a lot of money by dropping football, but, you know, ‘tradition’.

I would try to argue with you here, but in Delaware’s case, you might be right. In other places, I’ve seen what even a moderately successful athletic program can do for a university.

It brings people on campus, where they spend money on tickets, food, apparel and other merchandise. It’s a great way to showcase your campus and facilities to potential future students. Speaking more from a basketball perspective, a good team leads to more exposure, which a good university will translate into an increase in applications. Of course, that’s just an application. You need to have the goods to get these kids to enroll. But athletics definitely can play a part.

Whether this is the case at UD, I’m not sure. I don’t know how many students show up for football or basketball games. The athletic venues are not integrated into the main part of the campus, so fans are not seeing other buildings.

The Hens could become Eastern Michigan or San Jose State or Old Dominion, but I don’t know that it would be worth it.

Stand proudly at never having been to a U.Of D. football game, admit to not givint a damn about sports. As noted a medical school would be a better option, as such I’d say we’re doomed.

  3. mediawatch says:

This piece doesn’t mention a UD medical school but some of the data here shows why it might be a winning proposition.

Hoping your right, as noted the population is aging rapidly (myself in particular) and as ever the politicians seems to have other ides in mind. Would say however said politicians should fear we of the geezer persuasion. We vote, and games like this we tend not to forget.
