1. Yo, John, About That Fundraiser…
You will recall this chain of events: On Sept. 12, BHL officially announces her candidacy. On Sept. 13, John Carney endorses her. On Sept. 28, BHL ‘suspends’ her campaign to conduct an ‘audit’ of prior campaign finance statements. On Sept. 29, John Carney cancels a scheduled fundraiser on her behalf (date approximate as one source stated that the fundraiser was initially scheduled for Sept. 19, meaning BHL had given Carney the heads-up on the finance issue long before anyone made it public). On October 26, BHL sends out a press release declaring that the all-powerful Summit CPA LLC has cleared her campaign of any wrongdoing.
Allow me to quote from one of our commenters, FWIW, who says it better than I could:
However, let’s take a look at what services BHL said she would obtain – “I am working with independent campaign finance experts and forensic accountants to thoroughly audit the finances.”
If you look at the services Karen Remick provides, not one of them is “auditing”, “forensic accounting”, or “campaign finance expertise.”
There’s a reason BHL won’t release this so-called “audit.” Because if she did, actual auditors would see it and say- “Uh, that’s not a real audit.”
Let’s say it all together, people – THIS. IS. NOT. AN. AUDIT.
I will add that the person brought on by BHL from Rhode Island as a campaign compliance expert flew the coop before this was released. Coincidence? Or disgust?
Yes, Jason’s right. We should not diss Karen Remick, and I apologize for it. But nobody other than BHL and her corrupt husband would argue that THIS. IS. A. LEGITIMATE. AUDIT.
Which brings me back to John Carney. If there’s one thing he allegedly knows, it’s numbers. He’s a green-eyeshade guy. Will he reschedule that fundraiser for Bethany even though he now KNOWS that the audit is no such thing? Stay tuned. What remains of his ‘integrity’ is on the line.
2. Scratch This Race From My ‘Most Intriguing’ List. Looks like James Taylor will primary Stephanie Bolden in RD 2 again. He outed himself as a misogynistic anti-LGBTQ-rights guy last time. Neither he nor Buccini/Pollin-owned Bolden belong in the General Assembly. Barring another entrant, there’s nothing intriguing about this rematch. Don’t despair, though. There are at least two races with unannounced candidates that could surface soon. More than enough compensation. Let me rephrase: More than enough compensation!
3. R Primary In Suxco? Don’t know, but I’m a completist, so here goes. One Steve McCarron has filed as an R in Suxco District 2. The incumbent is Republican Cynthia Green. Looks like McCarron is a farmer and he graduated from Delaware Valley College. One of my best friends ever graduated from there. Hey, that’s all I’ve got. Suxco spies: Is this a primary, or is Green retiring?
4. Bloviator Bonini To Face R Primary For Kentco Register Of Wills! I love this. One Susanne Whitney has filed as of this week. She’s a certified paralegal/office manager with Clendaniel Electrical Contractors. Certified paralegal vs. Certifiable. I’m making Whitney the favorite to face (likely?) incumbent D Harold Brode.
That’s all I’ve got this week. What’d I miss, and whaddayathink?
