Song of the Day 11/16: The All-American Rejects, “Dirty Little Secret”
I’ll let you figure out who this song is dedicated to.
I saw these guys when they made a radio station appearance at WSTW a decade or so ago. My lasting impression was of their lead singer, Tyson Ritter. He’s also an actor, and like a lot of Hollywood types, he’s tiny, like a human at 7/8ths scale. FWIW, he was nicer and more modest than a lot of musicians putting in time at these promotional appearances can be, and the band, known for a raucous party vibe, sounded pretty good playing a low-decibel acoustic set.
This song was already an oldie when AAR rolled through Brandywine Hundred in 2012 promoting their then-current LP. It was the lead single from the Stillwater, Okla., band’s second album, released in 2005, and became their first top 10 Billboard hit, reaching No. 9, no mean feat for a rock song this century.
