There’s a nasty civil war going in in Sudan, where the ethnic Arabs are slaughtering the ethnic Africans in what looks an awful lot like genocide.. Nobody elsewhere seems to be protest marching for or against either side. I’m not sure, but I think there might be a First World bias in our media.
There’s another civil war going on in the House of Representatives, where even his fellow Republicans have noticed what a monumental tool Matt Gaetz is. That’s why George Santos might not be the only Republican defenestrated following an ethics committee report.
Another Republican hemorrhoid on the asshole of the body politic, Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania (BTW, York, Pa., is the right up there with the most racist places in the entire USA, including the deep south), has both parties looking to replace him.
Why do people assume that in a dog-eat-dog world, they’ll be the ones doing the eating instead of being eaten? Don’t they understand that shitfaced assholes like Trump and Ron DeSantis will use them like toilet paper no matter how loyal they are? Here’s an example. DeSantis hired a guy named Peter Antonacci to serve as the chief of his “election fraud unit.” He attended a meeting with about a dozen people in DeSantis’ office in September 2022. When it ended he left the room and collapsed in a hallway of an apparent heart attack. The 74-year-old lay there dying for 24 minutes before anybody noticed or came to help, by which point he was dead. DeSantis covered this up until a FOIA request by the Florida Bulldog revealed what happened. It’s all on the security tape.
Why does Donald Trump have such a loyal following? Because he doesn’t market himself like a politician. As this story notes, “A MAGA bumper sticker often isn’t simply a statement of loyalty; it’s a cultural signifier of community much like the dancing bear bumper sticker is for a Grateful Dead fan.” I’m not sure there’s much crossover between those two communities, though.
The floor’s yours.
York, Pa., does have an ugly history. But I think you’d be hard-pressed today to find a Confederate flag at a city home or pictured on the bumper of a city resident’s vehicle.
A “riot” in 1969 — whites and blacks shooting at each other until the National Guard clamped down — woke a lot of people up to the cost of racism. Real efforts have been made to overcome it. Plus, a lot of narrow-minded Caucasians from those days are dead or dying.
York County, a sprawling area that’s mostly rural once you get a few miles beyond the city limits, is a different story. It’s bright red Trump country. And you can see the Stars&Bars flying there.
Good point, Bruce. I meant the county, not the city. The city is where the targets for the racism live. The county, along with other rural areas west of Harrisburg, is where Perry’s votes come from.
Trump gave this tidy summary of his campaign in a recent tweet (or whatever).
Closed Borders,
Energy Independence,
A Non-Woke Military,
Low Inflation,
Voter I.D.
No Men playing In Women’s Sports,
Optional (not mandated) Electric Cars & Trucks,
A Weaponized DOJ/FBI but for our side.
It all seems dumb enough, to work.
