‘Bulo’s Fave Tunes: February 2024
Not gonna lie. Halfway through the month, the pickin’s were slim.
But a great couple of weeks saved the day–and the month. Mucho diversity as well:
Eric Brace led a really cool roots band called Last Train Home. Played at the Gild Hall way back when (2000, I think). Was also the Weekend Entertainment Editor for the Washington Post. Always liked him, wondered what he was up to. Now I know:
One of my fave finds of 2023 is back and, well, I wasn’t wrong:
Really surprised XPN hasn’t jumped on this one:
Speak to me, Philly:
The ’27 Club’ refers to all the celebrities and artists who died at the age of 27. The song is empathy personified.
Greatness out of East Nashville:
Might as well double up b/c this is the life of the working musician in miniature:
Goin’ with this one as Nathan Arizona’s fave this month, but it’s not a firmly-held conviction:
Wow. What looked like a sub-par month o’ tunes turned into this?? I’m jiggy wid’ it:
1. Friko. When I’m in a certain mood this is exactly what i want to hear.
2. Brace and Jutz. Byrdsy. Enough said.
3. See first comment, but I’d play Friko first.
4. Tierra Whack. I always thought Tierra Whack was kind of a bizarre stage name. I just found out she changed a previous stage name to her real name, which is in fact Tierra Whack.
Silly video, though. Doesn’t measure up to the music.
I LIKED the video. She may be eccentric, but she has a good heart…
