Hillary Blames Everybody Else–Again. Only in the NYTimes would this be clickbait. Yo, Hillary, your arrogance and tone-deafness is largely why we got Trump in the first place:
And in a blunt reflection about the role sexism played in her 2016 presidential campaign, she said women were the voters who abandoned her in the final days because she was not “perfect.” Overhanging the interview was the understanding that had she won the White House, Roe most likely would have remained a bedrock feature of American life. She assigned blame for the fall of Roe broadly but pointedly, and notably spared herself from the critique.
But you’ve got books to sell. BTW, your problem was not that you were imperfect. It’s that you were immensely unlikable. And arrogant. Still are. Spare me the inevitable interviews.
Trump Vs. Libertarians. He faces a rare hostile crowd, doesn’t take it well:
“Maybe you don’t want to win,” Trump said to a loud chorus of boos from the crowd. “Keep getting your 3 percent every four years.”
Tensions were high in the room ahead of Trump’s speech as libertarian delegates entered to discover that Trump supporters were already seated in the front rows where they had planned to sit. Organizers pleaded with Trump fans to move in order to allow delegates who paid to travel to their convention to sit. Most Trump supporters reluctantly gave up their seats.
“What do Libertarians want” is a question unworthy of Freud and unimportant to the rest of us. For once, Trump is right.
I wanted more stuff to share with you. Couldn’t find it.
What do you want to talk about?
” immensely unlikable. And arrogant. Still are. ”
And yet, not wrong.
Not wrong about what? She’s blaming Democrats for not prioritizing codifying Roe, but I don’t recall her putting it at the top of her agenda. Nobody did, for the simple reason that it was divisive and could have cost people in some places their offices if they voted for it.
Revisionist history isn’t just for conservatives.
Roe was not at the top of Hillary’s or the Democratic agenda because there was no need to. Nobody thought Trump could win until the last minute, remember?
NYT:
Abortion rights weren’t the Dem GOTV juggernaut they became after the fall of Roe. The pink-hat women’s march didn’t happen until AFTER Trump was elected.
If everyone was convinced Roe was safe, then yes, amplifying abortion as a campaign issue would likely have had unwelcome downballot results. And Democrats did gain 6 seats in the House and 2 in the Senate, even as Dems lost the WH.
You’re looking at it as a one-election issue, which it certainly was not. Abortion has been divisive since Roe was first decided, and Democrats didn’t touch it for years and years, which is what she was criticizing them for. Her criticism wasn’t about the 2016 election.
What’s the take on Sussex County Council District 3 race? Schaeffer and Paskins.
You tell us. Schaeffer’s Smyrna misdeeds have been well-chronicled here.
The electorate has determined Schaeffer is a sleaze and they seem to like it👿
