The Big Story: General Assembly Hands John Carney His Lovely Parting Gift.
While I don’t know if any senators will vote against the veto override of HB 282, I know that the veto will be overridden. Particulars of the bill aside, this underlines one unassailable fact: The General Assembly as a whole has dismissed John Carney as utterly irrelevant. In fact, if the General Assembly’s reaction could be summed up in one collective physical gesture, it would be the eye-roll. Or the shrug. If the citizens of Wilmington were looking for rudderless leadership, they could do no better than Carney. He defines the term.
Prediction: BHL will not be on the podium during the veto override. Gee, where IS she, anyway?
Here is yesterday’s Session Activity Report.
You’ll note that Gov. Carney allowed HB 281 to become law without his signature. No doubt b/c he figured that one veto override is better than two.
‘Curious’ also made the excellent point that Anthony Albence, who has buried any information on BHL’s alleged misdeeds, was unanimously approved by the Senate as Delaware’s Elections head. No questions were asked on the record. Call it what it is: Dereliction of duty due to deference.
The Bond Bill is the first item on today’s House Agenda. Don’t know why Mike ‘Skittles’ Ramone was absent yesterday, but I’m guessing that his absence is why the bill wasn’t run. I don’t look for ‘Skittles’ to scuttle this year. Which reminds me, the Joint Finance Committee will mark up the Grants-In-Aid bill today. Look for beaucoups bucks to be showered on the do-nothing agencies ‘run’ by Val Longhurst and Nicole Poore. I know I will.
48 bills are on today’s Senate Agendas (includes Consent Agendas). Only one is a Senate bill, a bill that was returned to the Senate with a House amendment. (Memo to self: Be sure to listen promptly at 2 so that I don’t miss the veto override.)
After today, only one partial day left. Almost certain to be anti-climactic. Featuring a farewell to *gag* Mike Ramone. Nude pool party to follow?
Unless there’s an ongoing Skittles shortage.
