The disgrace of governments giving taxpayer money to private, for-profit businesses is, sadly, widespread, simply the way business is conducted in our greedy society. Poor-Excuse-For-A-Democrat John Carney brought Delaware to a new low by shielding our giveaways from public scrutiny, but the drip-dick Republican leading the Senate race in Montana has dropped it even further – he took $160 million from the state, created no jobs – and is about to get elected to the Senate. I’d call Montanans dumb as rocks, but I don’t want to insult rocks.

The folly of making health care a profit generator is obvious when you compare our system to every other industrialized nation’s. One particularly nasty way profits come before people: insurance companies denying coverage for medically necessary procedures. If politicians were forced to get the same health care as the rest of us this would change overnight.

Pundits are outraged over Trump’s hate rally at Madison Square Garden yesterday, but they fail to point out that his ugly words lead his ugly cultists to commit ugly actions. Take, for example, the harassment that election officials all over the country have been subjected to. I hope somebody is studying how Germany was de-Nazified after World War II, because even if Trump loses these people will be loose in the land.

On a happier note, have you noticed that today’s apples taste better than ever? Breeders are making great strides in manipulating apple genetics, which is why you see so many new varieties in the markets and Honeycrisp is the new paragon of apple excellence.

The floor’s yours.

Carney, and those like him, are Republican Lite at best, and an “easy easy touch” for the greedy. We all know it’s not just Carney, as such I ask who are the real Dems in this state? How do we prevent the next Carney or Coons? Would add that new voters are pouring into this state at a rapid rate, and I suspect it will mean the end of “The Delaware Way”, especially in Sussex.

The Opioid Commission is meeting today at 1pm: https://publicmeetings.delaware.gov/#/meeting/76793

Will they discuss Spotlight Delaware’s investigation that exposed their gross mismanagement of the opioid grants? Or will they completely ignore it, pat themselves on the back, and say let’s do more of the same? (The latter is my guess.)

    • Thanks! Think I’ll check that out…

BTW, does anybody know if Facilities Management has finished micro-chipping the silverware at the Governor’s Mansion yet?

      • I’m in!

        BHL is talking–and talking.

        • Moving into Executive Session to ‘discuss law enforcement developments’.

          • We’re now getting a presentation of the Opioid Commission website which is pretty much a ‘one-stop-shop’.

          • AllOverIt says:

This is what the Agenda says about the Executive Session:

“Executive Session – Attorney General Kathy Jennings
            • to discuss activities of law-enforcement agency in its efforts to collect information leading to criminal apprehension pursuant to 29 Del. C. § 10004(b)(3).”

            Someone’s getting arrested.

            • Social Contract is now presenting an assessment on how best to award and track opioid funds.

              • Recommendations include comprehensive needs assessments, transparency in the grants process and the results process, a multi-year opioid coordination plan, racial equity in grants process, developing ‘robust monitoring and reporting processes, and creating a public dashboard to share all relevant information with the public.

AG Jennings pushes for vote adopting Social Contract report before any more grants are awarded. There seems to be some dispute here. Implementation of Phase One of the Social Contract report is approved.

In other words, Social Contract is telling them to do all the shit they should have done a year ago.

              • Yes. Diplomatically, but firmly.

                Meeting adjourned.

Just in case there are some black folks who aren’t terribly offended by the anti-Puerto Rican “jokes” at the MAGA MSG rally, this hasn’t been as widely reported (but it should be):

Hinchcliffe also told a joke about one of his Black “buddies” and how they “carved watermelons” together.

  4. SussexWatcher says:

Anyone have insight into the new DSP superintendent? Is that appointment usually made by the Governor? Seems odd (not really) that a week before the election, Carney’s administration would name a new superintendent instead of waiting for the new gov to do so.

    • Doesn’t look like it was made by the Administration, but by the State Police themselves. Honestly don’t know how that works…

      • real says:

because carney doesn’t want BHL doing anything crazy when she gets her two weeks to do whatever nonsense she and her merry band of grifters want to try and pull.

  5. Wayne S Whirld says:

DSP Col. is a Governor appointment.

Long-ago News Journal reporter David Hoffman, who last week accepted a Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing, is the latest member of the Washington Post editorial board to resign in protest of the paper’s cowardly decision not to endorse a candidate for president.
