ABC To Pay Trump $15 Million. Because, he didn’t ‘rape’ E. Jean Carroll, he only ‘sexually assaulted’ her:
Trump sued ABC and Stephanopoulos in federal court in Miami days after the network aired the segment, in which the longtime “Good Morning America” anchor and “This Week” host repeatedly misstated the verdicts in Carroll’s two civil lawsuits against Trump.
During a live “This Week” interview with Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., Stephanopoulos wrongly claimed that Trump had been “found liable for rape” and “defaming the victim of that rape.”
Neither verdict involved a finding of rape as defined under New York law.
In the first of the lawsuits to go to trial, Trump was found liable last year of sexually abusing and defaming Carroll. A jury ordered him to pay her $5 million.
Trump Proposes End Of Daylight Savings Time? Good idea, bad idea?
Ending daylight saving time would also not be that original—two thirds of countries do not have it. Americans do seem to be split on the issue. In a 2019 poll, 7 out of 10 Americans said they did not like the biannual switches, but 4 in 10 wanted a fixed standard time and 3 in 10 wanted daylight saving time.
Even putting aside the economic argument for ending daylight saving time, some research suggests that the practice of putting the clock one hour ahead in the spring can negatively impact peoples’ mental health. When our internal clock is thrown off and we get less sleep, our mood can be impacted, leading us to feel less focused and potentially more depressed. This lack of focus can also be deadly—a February 2020 study that looked at two decades’ worth of traffic accidents found that there was a 6 percent increase in the risk of fatal traffic accidents in the week following daylight saving time in the United States.
I don’t feel strongly one way or another, but I think that states with beaches might not like it. We’ll see.
Why The Fuck Did Biden Pardon This Guy??:
Victims of a former Pennsylvania judge convicted in the so-called kids-for-cash scandal are outraged by Joe Biden’s decision to grant him clemency.
In 2011, Michael Conahan was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison after he and another judge, Mark Ciavarella, were found guilty of accepting $2.8m in illegal payments in exchange for sending more than 2,300 children – including some as young as eight years old – to private juvenile detention centers.
Conahan was released from prison in 2020 due to Covid-19 and placed on house arrest, which had been scheduled to end in 2026.
Conahan’s sentence was one of about 1,500 the US president commuted – or shortened – on Thursday while also pardoning 39 Americans who had been convicted of non-violent crimes.
In response to Conahan’s pardon, the mother of a boy sent to jail at age 17 before later dying by suicide told the Citizens’ Voice: “I am shocked and I am hurt.”
“Conahan’s actions destroyed families, including mine, and my son’s death is a tragic reminder of the consequences of his abuse of power,” Sandy Fonzo said to the outlet. “This pardon feels like an injustice for all of us who still suffer. Right now I am processing and doing the best I can to cope with the pain that this has brought back.”
The Pennsylvania governor, Josh Shapiro, also condemned Biden’s decision, telling reporters that his fellow Democrat “got it absolutely wrong”, the Pennsylvania Capital-Star reported.
Yes he did.
‘Shoulder Meat’. When orders go awry…:
In less than two weeks, Tara Henderson is getting married to Kevin Porter. She was excited to find that her custom wedding guest book had arrived on time on Monday, Dec. 2. But her excitement turned into a combination of shock and confusion when she opened her package that afternoon and saw a book titled “SHOULDER MEAT” in all-caps.
“When I opened it, to my surprise, I got the wrong order. But nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to open,” Henderson said in a TikTok video of the guest book reveal.
“When I saw the black cover I thought I forgot to update the cover on the website when creating it and thought to myself, ‘It’s okay we will just keep the book open, no one will see the cover,’ ” Henderson exclusively tells PEOPLE. “Then when I saw ‘shoulder meat’ I thought it was a butcher book of some sort since my fiancé is a rancher. Then I got into the book and I was just so confused what it was.”
The book consists of 13 photographs of strangers with meat placed on top of their shoulders. The bride-to-be says that it looks like different types of red meat was used, such as prosciutto, salami and steak. There were no captions underneath any of the photos, nor any other identifying information inside.
