A Tesla Cybertruck filled with large firework mortars and gas canisters exploded near the entrance of Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday morning, killing the driver and injuring seven others, according to police.

The bureau identified the driver as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, an Army veteran originally from Texas. He was killed at the scene in a shootout with law enforcement in which two officers were injured, New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said at a Wednesday news conference.
Jabbar deployed to Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010 while on active duty as a human resources specialist, according to brief service details provided by the Army. He left active duty in January 2015 and continued to serve part-time in the Army Reserve, switching careers to information technology.
Jabbar was a U.S. citizen from Texas, the FBI said, contradicting a statement made by President-elect Donald Trump on his Truth Social platform that appeared to link Wednesday’s attack to “criminals coming in” to the United States.

Matt Meyer’s Transparency Agenda. Good stuff:
With Matt Meyer ascending to Delaware’s top elected post this month, the state will be getting a governor who has professed support for a string of transparency reforms, including many that would force lawmakers to disclose more information to the public than they do today.
They include calls for expanding the state’s open records laws to the legislature; requiring politicians to publicly disclose business relationships with lobbyists; and prohibiting departing elected officials from immediately taking jobs as lobbyists, in state government, or from entering into state contracts.
But not nearly enough. Here’s my Tranparency Agenda.

Very happy to see Eric Morrison (Transportation), Larry Lambert (Corrections), and Madinah Wilson Anton (Revenue and Finance) all get chairmanships, though Frank Cooke retaining chairmanship of *anything* is disappointing.
Overall shoutout to Mimi for *not* pulling a Pelosi and completely shutting out younger progressives out of everything
All I can say is, it could have been worse. Could have been a lot better, though.
Specifically, no committee chairs for Sophie Phillips? We know why, don’t we.
Plus:
TWO committee chairs for Stephanie Bolden, including Elections and Government Affairs?
Nnamdi for Health & Human Development and Veterans Affairs? Based on what?
Public Safety/Homeland Security-Cooke. Another Sop To Cops.
Also, when people with extensive experience join the General Assembly, they should be considered for committee chairs. I’m thinking Gorman, Burns, and Snyder-Hall. They’re not really rookies.
I’ll have to check out the committee membership for more takes, but I’m especially glad that Eric Morrison has Transportation. He can have an impact there.
Plus, the House money committees are stacked with insiders–including Stephanie Bolden and Nnamdi on JFC. With Kim Williams and Krista Griffith.
You don’t see any progressives there.
Hardly even any adults.
Nnamdi’s like on half of the committees. You can tell who HE backed for leadership.
Sophie Phillips? They put her on Ag. Any more questions about retribution? I think not.
