Fascism On The MarchNice country you have there.  You can keep part of it if you give us 50% of your minerals:

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, during a closed-door meeting on Wednesday, rejected an offer by the Trump administration to relinquish half of the country’s mineral resources in exchange for U.S. support, according to five people briefed on the proposal or with direct knowledge of the talks.

The unusual deal would have granted the United States a 50 percent interest in all of Ukraine’s mineral resources, including graphite, lithium and uranium, according to two European officials. Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury secretary, who presented the deal to Ukraine, said Sunday that the United States wanted the minerals “as payback for the aid we’ve given them” — leaving unclear whether the deal would cover future military and financial assistance.

A Ukrainian official and an energy expert briefed on the proposal said that the Trump administration sought not only Ukraine’s minerals but additional natural resources, including oil and gas. The proposal, they said, would entitle the United States to half of Ukraine’s resource earnings — funds that are today mostly invested in the country’s military and defense production.

ICE Officials Demoted For Not Rounding Up Immigrants Fast Enough.  I sorta consider this good news:

Since taking office, President Donald Trump has launched an all-of-government immigration crackdown with the urgency of a wartime effort, a mobilization comparable in scope to the responses to the 9/11 attacks and the coronavirus pandemic.

But despite the rapid infusion of resources, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is struggling to arrest higher numbers of immigrants and falling far short of the administration’s goals.

ICE arrests have sagged so far this month, according to data provided by the Department of Homeland Security, declining from about 800 per day in late January after Trump took office to fewer than 600 during the first 13 days of February. The administration has stopped publishing daily numbers, and Trump officials said they will release the data on a monthly basis to conserve resources. It is a level well below the Trump administration’s goal of 1,200 to 1,500 arrests per day.

“I’m not happy. We need more‚” Tom Homan, Trump’s designated “border czar,” said Thursday on Newsmax. He did not respond to a request for comment.

The top two enforcement officials at ICE were removed from their jobs this week and reassigned due to what Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi L. Noem said was a lack of “results.”

Hope that ‘accidentally falling from buildings’ isn’t next.

Trump Fired Officials Overseeing Our Nuclear Arsenal.  Because he had no clue that that’s what they did:

Trump administration officials fired more than 300 staffers Thursday night at the National Nuclear Security Administration — the agency tasked with managing the nation’s nuclear stockpile — as part of broader Energy Department layoffs, according to four people with knowledge of the matter.

Sources told CNN the officials did not seem to know this agency oversees America’s nuclear weapons.

The agency began rescinding the terminations Friday morning.

Political officials at the Energy Department told its non-political HR administrators to cite poor performance personnel files as a justification for firing the employees, the source said. Frustrated by the pressure from political appointees, two of those HR employees submitted their resignations on Friday.

A DOE spokesperson declined to comment on the poor-performance rationale for the firings. CNN has reached out to the two employees who resigned.

Not the last time that this will happen.

Trump And The Supreme Court–Perfect Together:

President Trump on Saturday posted on social media a single sentence that appears to encapsulate his attitude as he tests the nation’s legal and constitutional boundaries in the process of upending the federal government and punishing his perceived enemies.

“He who saves his Country does not violate any Law,” Mr. Trump wrote, first on his social media platform Truth Social, and then on the website X.

300 Fired From National Cancer Institute.

Enough Fascism for one day.

Two Non-Entitities Chosen By Insiders Elected To State Senate.  The News-Journal did not cover it.  For once they might be right.

  1. Just sayin’ says:

I emailed senator McBride’s office last week for a statement regarding Cruce’s questionable residency, not surprisingly it was crickets. Really makes me feel like our SD was just a stepping stone, to bigger and better things. Everyone knows that if she had released a statement (even obliquely) about candidates having full time residency in their districts it would have compelled Albanese to look into it.

“Everyone knows that if she had released a statement (even obliquely) about candidates having full time residency in their districts it would have compelled Albanese to look into it.”

That’s some Grade A bullshit. There’s no evidence anywhere that says Sarah McBride has pull with the Democratic Party insiders who run Albanese.

  2. Just Sayin’ says:

Is there a reason why comments re: SD1 election are being blocked?

    • Alby says:

My guess would be because it’s a bullshit swipe at McBride, but I restored it so I could say so.

      • Just Sayin’ says:

A swipe? It’s still HER district. The silence is a tacit endorsement of the whole situation. This is a blue state, she has that her house seat for life if she wants it, why do we have to circle the wagons all of a sudden? THIS is classic Delaware Way bullshit

        • Alby says:

No, it’s not HER district. She represents Delaware and I think it’s absurd that you think she should meddle in a state senate race just because you don’t like the guy the insiders picked.

Where do you get the notion that she has pull with Albanese? You want her to be a loudmouth. She’s not. Get used to it.

There’s plenty of room on the internet for you to start your own blog where you can stir up all the shit you want.
