Delaware Liberal

A major tip of the sombrero to an intrepid reader, who pointed me to this article (it’s free, but you have to sign up).  This is what the corporadems seek to inflict on Delaware:

In an effort to appease Elon Musk, Delaware’s Democratic-controlled legislature is expected to vote on a bill this month that would not only award Musk the largest compensation package in history, but also shield many of the country’s most powerful corporate executives from accountability for their companies’ misbehavior.

If lawmakers don’t enact the law, which was written by Musk’s own lawyers, the billionaire mogul and his allies are threatening a mass exodus of companies out of the state. This pressure campaign is part of a long-running race to the bottom between states competing to attract businesses with offers to shield corporate executives from scrutiny by their companies’ own shareholders and workers.

Delaware, which has long been perceived as a billionaire playground and corporate tax haven, is the incorporation home to more than 60 percent of all Fortune 500 companies. That means, if enacted, the wide-ranging regulatory handouts in the bill will have sweeping consequences for corporate behavior across the country.

Shareholder lawsuits — used to hold corporations accountable for misconduct — would become much more difficult to bring to court. The law could wipe out many Delaware legal practices, a major state industry, and it could disempower company stakeholders including regular everyday stockholders and workers via their pension funds.

Oh, the difference between corporadems and real Dems?:

Rolling back all these shareholder protections has created growing opposition in the state. Joining plaintiff firms are labor unions such as the state’s AFL-CIO whose members’ pension funds are invested in these large companies. If executives at those firms are shielded from legal liability, Fleming says, it enables them to outright steal from workers under the new law.

“Erasing forty years of case law would not make Delaware look like a stable or predictable place to do business,” wrote a collection of shareholder counsels in a joint letter to the Delaware General Assembly this month. “It would make Delaware look like a state where Elon Musk can change the law because he lost a case.”

Real Dems take note.

I might also add that the bill is being run by a corporate attorney with a blatant conflict of interest.  This is not just Delaware Way stuff, it’s corrupt Delaware Way stuff. This article is quite comprehensive. Highly-recommended.

Who said this?:

“We will begin a new era of soaring incomes. Skyrocketing wealth. Millions and millions of new jobs and a booming middle class. We are going to boom like we’ve never boomed before.”

Who said this?

“I hate to predict things like that,” he said. “There is a period of transition, because what we’re doing is very big. We’re bringing wealth back to America. That’s a big thing. And there are always periods of, it takes a little time. It takes a little time, but I think it should be great for us.”

You guys are smart.  You already know.

The Suckitude Of Jeff Bezos:

Amazon has announced it will begin streaming “The Apprentice” — the reality TV show famous for boosting Donald Trump’s profile — on its Prime Video service on Monday.

Burnett, the British producer behind “The Apprentice,” as well as “Survivor” and “Shark Tank,” was appointed special envoy to the United Kingdom in December.

“‘The Apprentice’ is one of the best shows that I ever produced. The charismatic onscreen presence of President Donald J. Trump made it a bona fide hit!” Burnett said in a press release.

Trump, who was an executive producer on the show alongside Burnett, said in the release: “I look forward to watching this show myself — such great memories, and so much fun. but most importantly, it was a learning experience for all of us!”

More Bezos:

Washington Post associate editor and top political columnist Ruth Marcus is reportedly resigning following the decision by the CEO, Will Lewis, to kill her opinion column critical of the billionaire owner Jeff Bezos’s latest changes to the paper.

“Jeff’s announcement that the opinion section will henceforth not publish views that deviate from the pillars of individual liberties and free markets, threatens to break the trust of readers that columnists are writing what they believe, not what the owner has deemed acceptable,” the letter continues.

Marcus goes on to explain in her letter that the decision by Lewis to not run a column she wrote and describes as “respectfully dissenting” from Bezos’s new rules threatens the freedom of newspaper columnists as well as the credibility they build with their readers.

Bezos has done to the Post what Trump is doing to the country.  Destroyed it.

The Pandemics Are Coming:

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist serving as the secretary of Health and Human Services, made some wild claims about the link between measles, diet and exercise in an interview last week.

“We see a correlation between people who get hurt by measles and people who are ― who don’t have good nutrition or who don’t have a good exercise regimen,” Kennedy told Siegel at one point during the 35-minute sit-down.

His comments were anchored to the current measles outbreak in West Texas, where there have been nearly 200 confirmed infections, 23 hospitalizations, and one death of an unvaccinated child ― the first such fatality in the U.S. in a decade ― who was part of a Mennonite congregation in Gaines County.

Without providing evidence, Kennedy pointed to malnutrition and lack of access to fresh foods in the area as factors that “may have been an issue in her death.”

“They said, we want [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention workers] to look at our vaccine-injured kids, and look them in the eye,” he went on. The CDC, he claimed, “has not done a good job at quantifying the risk of vaccines.”

Did I mention something about destroying the country?
