Song of the Day 4/7: Ohio Players, “Love Rollercoaster”
I was all set to go with “Free Fallin’,” but the stock markets fluctuated wildly this morning, so the Ohio Players it is. “Love Rollercoaster” became their second No. 1 hit in January 1976.
An urban myth arose about the song. At the 2:32 mark you can hear a high-pitched scream, supposedly the sound of a woman being murdered while the tape was rolling. It’s not, of course, but the rumor was mentioned by Casey Kasem on his syndicated show, so it persisted for years.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers covered “Love Rollercoaster” for the 1996 film “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America,” and demonstrated that they’re as funky as that other average white band.
The market mid-morning bounce was from an unsourced rumor that the White House was going to hold off for 90 days. Rumor denied by WH so the crash is back on & Free Fallin sometime this week for sure.
Here is what gets me – and maybe, Al you have some insights – why can’t the media report the plain and obvious fact that Trump is an imbecile and terrible at everything other than self-promotion? It seems self-evident at this point.
The media has reported the plain and obvious fact that Trump is an imbecile and terrible at everything but he along with his propaganda news outlets have convinced and persuaded his followers to believe that these media sources are “fake news”.
The billionaires, including the ones who own the media, are waiting for their tax cuts and need a full-strength Trump to get them. The stock market crash is part of the plan. Having plenty of cash, they will buy up the distressed stocks we sell from our retirement savings to survive the Trumpcession. After the mass layoffs Wall Street will exult in their new hiring power and the lower labor costs (i.e. wages).
