On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, local school boards throughout the state will elect board members. If you reside in one of the districts that has contests, you are eligible to vote.
Here is the slate of filed candidates from the Department Of Elections.
While I’m aware of the contest in my own district (Brandywine School District, Nominating District B), and have a strong opinion on the race, I know very little about most of the other races. Who do you like in your districts, and why are you supporting a particular candidate? Let this be your forum to let us all know who (whom?) we might want to support.
As for my district, the incumbent, Kristin Pidgeon, is not seeking reelection. I strongly support Brian Jordan. His response to the ACLU Questionnaire would ordinarily be enough. Pretty extraordinary. Then, check out his home page. But, Steve, you’re saying, what about his opponent? His opponent, you may have heard of her, is none other than Karen Hartley Nagle. Why is she running, you may ask? My answer is: because she can’t help herself. Nor does she possess any qualities that would help the students and teachers in the Brandywine School District. She is, however, endorsed by Marcus Henry (who destroyed her in the race for County Executive) and Monique Johns. You sometimes identify yourself as a hack by who (whom?) you endorse.
Anyway, that’s my race. Who ya got?
