Speed bumps on Newark’s Main Street? There’s pressure to make that happen after a stolen U-Haul van fatally struck a student, eight months after another student was killed by a motorcyclist fleeing from police.

Another Trump revenge tantrum executive order has been ruled unconstitutional. People who moaned that the courts are all in Trump’s corner should probably stop moaning that, but I’m betting they won’t.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, the college football coach turned Trump fluffer, wants to run for governor of Alabama, which would serve Alabamans right. But there’s problem – like many politicians, he’s been lying about where he lives. Shades of Park City Kathy: He voted in Florida while claiming he lived in Alabama, which requires seven years of residency before a person can run for governor.

By creating constant chaos, Trump has kept people from noticing that what little brain he had is slipping away. The media sanewashes most of what he says, but the full transcripts of his recent interviews with Time and the Atlantic show that his already shaky cognitive condition is getting worse. The examples are copious: Consider, for example, Trump’s fantasies about his “200 trade deals” (there aren’t that many countries in the world) or his fictitious gasoline prices, which are actually higher than when he took office.

Finally, I can’t decide whether this person was a plant or an actually-that-confused anti-Israel protester: Some asshole started screaming “war criminal” at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at a town hall meeting. AOC has spoken out against the Gaza slaughter, but some people aren’t going to let facts get in the way of their dudgeon.

The floor’s yours.

It’s a good thing Harvey Weinstein is also sentenced to 16 years in L.A., because NYS is starting off poorly in his retrial for the separate NY charges. I wouldn’t be surprised if NYS loses this time.

DelCOG is very unhappy with Paradee.

‘Now, with the end of the 2025 legislative year approaching and this year’s OIG bill (Senate Bill 4) in the spotlight, it is unclear yet again whether Finance Committee Chair Sen. Trey Paradee is going to advance an OIG bill for a vote.

Sen. Paradee, stop stalling. Bring it to a vote of the committee, where it likely will pass, so the entire Senate then can vote on it! Stop hiding behind the false argument that this is a costly office; not only is it not a costly office to create and operate, it likely will more than pay for itself once fully operational, just like other IG offices around the country.

And stop using disproven arguments about OIG duplication of effort in the attorney general’s and state auditor’s offices. If the offices of the AG and the SA are sufficient, why does the public continue to read about more failures of Delaware governmental programs to catch waste, fraud and abuse? And why are our legislators not acting if they see no effort to address these problems, especially given the broad support of good-government groups like DelCOG, and especially given sponsorship among House members, the Senate leadership and our governor, who says if the OIG bill passes, he will sign it into law?

Members of the General Assembly: If you really are concerned about these issues, hold a full House hearing where the public can counter unfounded arguments! You work for the people. Listen to our voices! ‘

The City of Newark is inept as hell on what is needed on our roadways. They bought their own tarpatch machine to fill potholes and have such a shitty execution with it, the Route 4 extension between 896 and Elkton Road drive is one long hiccup in either direction, most unpleasant and irritating. Every time I think to myself What the hell how much did they expend on all of the roadwork over the last ten years to end up with such a shitty, bumpy, stupid “improvement”.

They recently placed 4-5 speed bumps on Country Club Drive that slowed my speed to 5 mph. Will they use this same kind of very high bump where Cyndie Romer is quoted as going with this on Main Street?

The shitty travel condition of being forced to a crawl the entire length of the street will certainly deter anyone now uncertain about coming downtown. If tradition teaches anything, it is that Newark is going to do the stupid once again to resolve a public outcry over a tragedy resulting from extraordinary criminal get-away behavior that does not solve the problem itself.

I’m pretty sure anyone running from the cops won’t immediately think “oh damn, speed bumps, I better slow down”. Usually seeing pedestrians makes one slow down faster than a speed bumps will

The thing with AOC is that she perpetuated Biden’s lie that he was “tirelessly working for a ceasefire.” Was just uncovered this week that he wasn’t, so she and Bernie were complicit.

Also, AOC has been trying to toe the line a bit (e.g. condemning protests/easily reversed vandalism at some board members of the Brooklyn Museum’s houses because they financially support Zionism), and toeing the line on genocide is a bad look, period.
