General Assembly Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show: Thursday, June 12, 2025
Here is yesterday’s Session Activity Report. Virtually all the action took place in committee meetings. Except for the Speaker’s ongoing stonewalling (see the Open Thread for particulars).
Today’s House Agenda features HB 54 (Morrison), which creates and funds an Office Of Suicide Prevention. With plenty of bipartisan sponsorship, the bill will be on its way to the Senate by day’s end.
Not much else on the Agenda interests me but, then, interesting me is not the responsibility of those who put the Agenda together.
Today’s Senate Agenda is highlighted by SB 7 and SS1/SB 8, both sponsored by Sen. Pinkney. both of which continue the direction of ‘directing the courts, the Board of Parole, and the Bureau of Community Corrections to use the least restrictive probation and parole conditions and the most minimally intrusive reporting requirements necessary to achieve the goals of community supervision.
I also like SS 2/SB 115 (Lockman), which ‘provides a pathway for former defendants in eviction actions to have the eviction filings against them shielded from public view’ under certain circumstances.
Like the House Agenda, that’s about all that interests me. It’s not them, it’s me, as my Attention Deficit Order seems to have kicked in. Happens sometimes on a Thursday.
