BREAKING: Trump says with a ‘high degree of certainty’ that a suspect is in custody.
Time To End The Canonization Of Charlie Kirk. Our commenters unearthed two excellent pieces on this matter:
https://www.thenation.com/article/society/charlie-kirk-assassination-tragedy/tnamp/
https://newrepublic.com/article/200327/charlie-kirk-empathy-trap-democrats
The canonization is deliberate. Make him a martyr to justify retribution against any and all who Trump despise:
“For years those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals,” Trump said. “This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country.”
“My administration will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity and to other political violence, including the organizations that fund it and support it,” he said.
“Radical-left political violence has hurt too many innocent people and taken too many lives,” the president added.
Remember, kids, one of Trump’s most common Jedi mind tricks is to take precisely the route that he has taken (demonizing the enemy) and blame the ‘enemy’ for having been the ones who did it.
Just one more Kirk quote before we go:
“Black women do not have brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a white person’s slot.” -Charlie Kirk
Which reminds me, does this story sound more than a little hinky to you?:
Investigators found ammo engraved with transgender and antifascist messages inside the rifle believed to have been used in Charlie Kirk’s fatal shooting.
According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, investigators discovered ammunition inside the rifle engraved with expressions of transgender and antifascist ideology.
“Investigators found ammunition engraved with expressions of transgender and antifascist ideology inside the rifle that authorities believe was used in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk,” the WSJ report states.
Annnd, just like that, this is now in the public discourse. First, there has been no public sharing of the evidence. Second, the WSJ quoted ‘law enforcement officials’. The FBI wouldn’t lie about something like that, would they? Most importantly, the shooter clearly had planned to not get caught. Would, say, a pro-trans marksperson do this to proudly stake a claim of responsibility? I’m, uh, more than a little skeptical. Not to mention, and I know it’s early, the utter buffoonery of the FBI ‘leadership’ has made it less likely that the sniper will be caught any time soon.
On Thursday morning, a day after hastily suggesting the person who gunned down Charlie Kirk was in custody, Kash Patel, the F.B.I. director, convened an online meeting with 200 agents around the country to discuss the manhunt. It was a tense affair.
Mr. Patel and his deputy, Dan Bongino, made it clear they were under intense pressure to catch the killer of Mr. Kirk. They expressed themselves with such fierce urgency that, in the view of some participants, it hinted at another motive: to prove they were up to the task.
The director wasted no time before calling out subordinates that he said failed to give him timely information and was incensed that agents in Salt Lake City waited nearly 12 hours to show him a photo of the suspected killer, according to three people familiar on the exchange.
Mr. Patel said he would not tolerate any more “Mickey Mouse operations,” an official on the call recounted. It was one of his few utterances without profanity, the person added.
Whether Mr. Patel can overcome his embarrassing early stumble in posts online about the Kirk investigation remains to be seen. The F.B.I. director’s actions have already invited scorn and scrutiny from the bureau’s work force, and some senior officials at the Justice Department, who think his behavior has eroded public confidence in the F.B.I.
Mr. Patel’s critics have also expressed concern that a wave of firings and forced retirements, which started before Mr. Patel was confirmed in February and continued after he took over, could hamper the bureau’s ability to manage complex investigations like the Kirk case.
Hours before a single gunshot hit Mr. Kirk in the neck at Utah Valley University, three former top F.B.I. officials — Brian J. Driscoll Jr., Steven J. Jensen and Spencer L. Evans — filed a lawsuit against Mr. Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi accusing them of illegally firing them.
The departure of Mr. Driscoll, who served as interim director until Mr. Patel was confirmed, has been a particularly significant blow. Mr. Driscoll was not only one of the F.B.I.’s most experienced career agents, he has been a morale booster and source of organizational stability, often defending rank-and-file agents targeted for firings or demotions by Trump appointees.
Trump got the FBI he wanted, and deserves. Although–perhaps it’s better for him that the killer is never caught. You know, in order to properly turn the hate-filled Kirk into a martyr. Which, you never know, could have been the sniper’s intent as well.
Lest we forget, Patel’s ‘qualification(s) to head the FBI. A snippet:
In one podcast appearance, Patel vowed to shut down FBI headquarters on Day 1 and reopen it as a “museum of the deep state.”
At his confirmation hearing, Patel sought to deflect questions about his past comments, telling lawmakers “any accusations leveled against me that I would somehow put political bias before the Constitution are grotesquely unfair.”
You get the picture.
The comedian Jerry Seinfeld, speaking during a surprise appearance at a Duke University event on Tuesday, described the “Free Palestine” movement as antisemitic and compared it to the Ku Klux Klan, according to a published report. The remarks escalated previous comments he has made about Israel’s war in Gaza.
According to the student newspaper The Duke Chronicle, Mr. Seinfeld said supporters of the movement often do not say what they mean. “Just say you don’t like Jews,” he told the audience.
“By saying ‘Free Palestine,’ you’re not admitting what you really think,” he continued. “So it’s actually — compared to the Ku Klux Klan, I’m actually thinking the Klan is actually a little better here because they can come right out and say, ‘We don’t like Blacks, we don’t like Jews.’ OK, that’s honest.”
It’s Big Oil’s Fault. We and Big Oil have known this for decades. Big Oil had the data, but buried it:
Carbon emissions from the world’s biggest fossil fuel companies have been directly linked to dozens of deadly heatwaves for the first time, according to a new analysis. The research has been hailed as a “leap forward” in the legal battle to hold big oil accountable for the damages being caused by the climate crisis.
The research found that the emissions from any one of the 14 biggest companies were by themselves enough to cause more than 50 heatwaves that would otherwise have been virtually impossible. The study shows, in effect, that those emissions caused the heatwaves.
The carbon pollution from ExxonMobil’s fossil fuels, for example, made 51 heatwaves at least 10,000 times more likely than in an unheated world, the researchers found, as did the emissions from Saudi Aramco.
The new research found that the total emissions from the 180 “carbon major” companies included in the analysis were responsible for about half the increase in intensity, with emissions due to forest destruction making up most of the rest. It also found that the 213 heatwaves studied became 200 times more likely on average from 2010 to 2019 owing to the climate crisis.
Cassidy DiPaola, a spokesperson for the Make Polluters Pay campaign, said: “We can now point to specific heatwaves and say, ‘Saudi Aramco did this. ExxonMobil did this.’ When their emissions alone are triggering heatwaves that wouldn’t have happened otherwise, we’re talking about real people who died, real crops that failed, and real communities that suffered, all because of decisions made in corporate boardrooms.”
What do you want to talk about?

More on the arrest of the suspect in the Kirk killing–apparently the suspect’s father convinced him to turn himself in.
The suspect is Tyler Robinson. He’s from Utah.
A quick search of the intertubes shows a Tyler Robinson, aged 22, Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Accounting from Utah State.
Looks like he could be the same guy based on his professional photo, but I don’t know. Which is why I won’t provide the link.
Yet.
However, IF it’s the same Tyler Robinson:
“Tyler likes to mountain bike, hunt, and golf.”
It was the same Tyler Robinson, all right. I know because his profile has now been removed from his, up until 10 minutes ago, employer:
