Kristi Noem has been stamping her little feet because she was denied access to a toilet by staff at a municipal building in suburban Chicago. The folks inside had watched her armed henchmen snatch people off the street and basically told her she could just hold it. Ice Barbie followed immediately with a whiny press conference. Maybe she had her Depends on.

But she could have come in through the bathroom window.

When a virtually unknown Joe Cocker released his first album in 1968 he was savvy enough to put a cover of the Beatles’ “With a Little Help From My Friends” on it. After that became a smash hit he put “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window” on the follow-up. It had been part of the Side 2 medley on the Beatles’ “Abby Road” album.

The title refers to the time fans broke into Paul McCartney’s house through the window of his bathroom looking for souvenirs.

Cocker went on to a career that landed him in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.

This is from his 1970 ”Mad Dogs and Englishmen” tour. Leon Russell is the dude with the funny hat and typically excellent guitar work.

Cocker was known for his stiff, jerky moments while he sang. He said it helped him feel the music. He was a sitting duck for John Belushi’s parody of him on “Saturday Night Live.” Cocker was a good sport about it and even joined Belushi on stage at one point.
