Song of the Day 10/12: Paul McCartney, “We All Stand Together (The Frog Song)”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on October 12, 2025

Everyone by now knows the story of the Portland Frog, who mocked the “war zone” narrative of Fox News and Trump’s Melting Brain by protesting in an inflatable frog costume, and got pepper-sprayed for his trouble. What you might not realize is that he’s spawned a group of imitators. So don’t be surprised if you show up for one of the anti-Trump “No Kings” protests on Saturday – there are planned events in Wilmington, Newark, Dover and Georgetown – to find somebody dressed as a frog.

“We All Stand Together,” colloquially known in Britain as “The Frog Song,” was composed by Paul McCartney for an animated short film starring the cartoon character Rupert Bear, released in 1984. It’s often derided as an example of Macca’s vapid post-Beatles songwriting, but it hit No. 3 on the UK singles chart and is still a holiday favorite in Ireland. Its message has obvious application to the current situation in today’s America, where we are all the Portland Frog.

Portland is exposing the MAGA achilles heal. They are wholly devoid of whimsey. It’s all menace and bad vibes for those idiots.
