The metaphors for Donald Trump’s destruction of the United States are getting a little too obvious, aren’t they? First he releases a video of himself flying a jet and dumping shit on Americans – quite a stretch of the truth considering there’s no evidence he even knows how to drive a car – and now he’s destroying the White House – not figuratively, literally.
In the thick compendium of Donald Trump’s lies, this one merits little more than a footnote, but it serves as yet another grim reminder of what ought to be the Trump administration’s motto: Promises Made, Promises Broken.
The Dropkick Murphys, the Celtic Punk band from Boston, will probably have something to say about this, given their long-standing loathing of Trump and the MAGA movement. On the other hand, they certainly seemed to have a good time razing a house themselves when they recorded a video for “Smash It Up,” a single from their 2021 LP “Turn Up That Dial.”
The video shows the band demolishing what appears to be a perfectly good house, but the building was slated for destruction anyway. In a phenomenon familiar to people in Rehoboth Beach, an older home was being torn down to clear the lot for a new, more expensive structure.
