‘Bulo’s Fave Tunes: October 2025

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, Featured by on October 30, 2025

Other than the undeniable bangers by Brandi Carlile and Joshua Hedley, this is the most ‘El Somnambulo’ month of music this year.  As in lots of stuff that’s kinda off the beaten track, but hits the musical pleasure center in my brain.  Posted a little early b/c I’ve reached my self-imposed song limit for the month:

1010Benja:

You know that I rarely post two songs by the same artist in the same thread.  However, I’d never heard of this guy, and these two songs couldn’t be more different:

“Dead song, dead song, 1-2-3”:

Parts Work, featuring the Truly Great Frances Quinlan:

I’m pegging this as a Nathan Arizona fave:

The music’s irresistible w/o the video.  But, um, watch the video:

Where has THIS band been all my life?  BTW, may not even be the best song on their upcoming album:

I don’t have many musical rules.  But, if a song reminds me of Husker Du or the Japandroids, it shows up here:

    1. Sharp Pins (you called it) 2. Weird Nightmare 3. SML 4. Joshua Hedley. I like the Twen song but the girl in the video is kind of annoying. On the other hand, I agree that the SML video is pretty cool. Not my favorite month but I enjoyed checking out all of them.

This band is insanely catchy and I can’t get their tunes out of my head. It’d be easy to dismiss the video as smut, but the song is meant to have a bit of an antagonistic tilt since it’s about the singer’s ex-boyfriend and former drummer. The feller insists he co-wrote two of their early songs and demands credit for them, hence the title “mangetout” – a play on the French meaning ‘eat it all’ and the English spelling of ‘man, get out.’
For what it’s worth their sound hasn’t changed at all since he got the boot, so I’m inclined to doubt his claim. Hope you enjoy!

    • I’ve had a hard time warming up to Wet Leg. Their songs are generally too ‘arch’ for me.

But I know I’m in the minority on that one.

I should probably make a list of bands I should like, but don’t like. Big Thief would be on that list as well…
