Make your prediction in this thread and the winner with the narrative that conforms the most closely to eventual reality will win a fabulous prize.

I’m Out: My narrative was: “The Eagles will look pitiful in their divisional loss to the New Jersey Giants.”

Prediction: I won’t watch any of the games.

Prediction: Loons will wonder who Obama is rooting for.

    STATUS: STILL IN

Eagle versus Titans in the Super Bowl.

    Eagles win.

Reid tearfully resigns for health reasons.

    STATUS: OUT – Titans? C’mon

  6. Mark H says:

The Eagles will win because during a crucial 4th down play, the Giant’s cornerback sees Elisabeth Hasselbeck Topless allowing for the winning touchdown to score.

    STATUS: OUT (Dang it)

  7. John Tobin says:

Prediction:During the post-game show whether he is correct or not, Ed Rendell will be forceful in pronouncements about his thoughts on the game.

    STATUS: STILL IN

  8. nemski says:

LOL John LOL. Maybe if Rendell would learn how to shut up, he’d be president. (Well, maybe Vice-President).

  9. anonone says:

Liz and MJ argue and call each other names in a 300 post thread over a questionable play call. Liz sends the videos to Jason and excoriates the “main stream sports media.” MJ goes to a party in an Eagles T.O. jersey.

    STATUS: OUT (pleased to say)

  10. donviti says:

    eagles will win

    26 to 14

STATUS: STILL IN (You call that a narrative)

    LOL@anonone!

  12. cassandra_m says:

Prediction: right wing bloggers will attempt to prove that Donovan McNabb sold Obama a dime bag back in college.

    STATUS: STILL IN

  13. liberalgeek says:

Eagles wipe the floor with the Giants, becoming “the inevitable NFC Superbowl representative”. Then the Eagles get spanked, embarrassed laughed off the field when the Arizona Cardinals beat them in the Championship game.

BTW, who did the Cowboys play this week? I must have missed that game… Are they the Monday night game?

STATUS: STILL IN (My money is on this prediction going all the way.)

  14. Lee Ann (aka Minner crony) says:

Unfortunately, I own an Eagles T.O. jersey that I will give to MJ. I only wore it once, during the Super Bowl.

    STATUS: Out

  15. jason330 says:

I need that Jersey. Getting rid of TO was Reid’s biggest blunder.

  16. anonone says:

Jason, TO went to Dallas – and he has helped ruin them – that alone makes it a great move.

Would it help if I told you T.O. was a repub?

I really don’t know what he is, but this is what he said about Obama’s election:

“Very emotional and historical moment. There was a change and hopefully that can trickle on down to our season.”

So we know he likes “trickle down.”

  17. RSmitty says:

I need that Jersey. Getting rid of TO was Reid’s biggest blunder.

Oh no, you’re tapping the Drambuie again today, aren’t you? How’s he working out for those Cowboys, J? Individually, he’s a great talent. On a team, he’s a freaking virus. Get over it, dude.

  18. jason330 says:

You don’t get paid to coach the easy guys.

  19. nemski says:

You don’t get paid to coach the easy guys.

    True.

  20. anonone says:

You don’t get paid to coach the easy guys.

You don’t pay players who screw your team, either.

  21. jason330 says:

    anonone,

You are the man – but here is where we part ways. Owens failure was about the stupid Reid/McNabb bromance not about Owens.

When in San Fran, Garcia-Owens led the league (and Garcia is not that good). T.O. gave a mediocre team (Dallas) a legit shot at the conference championship.

This notion that he was a cancer is pure ass covering PR by the eagles.

  22. RSmitty says:

Jason…take something for that delusion. TO hired Rosenhaus to get out of a contract he willingly signed less than two years earlier. He didn’t get his way and threw a match on his fuel-laced crying towel he dangled to the media. TO was still within the guaranteed portion of his contract, but did what he could to get the hell out of it. To save his ass from being sued for breach, which would have happened, he did what he minimally could to stay in compliance. The man can’t STFU to save even himself. Again, as an individual, the man is dripping talent, but as a team member, he’s a dripping virus.

When in San Fran, Garcia-Owens led the league
You really do have a short memory, don’t you? What happened there? He threw a bomb on that faltering machine, only to screw the Ravens out of a deal to land in Philly…where he was *ahem* wrongly cheated (yeah, right), to end up in Dallas, where he effectively forced Parcells into playing Romo (via Jackass Jones), which really led to Parcells sticking his middle finger to the team, and now wondering aloud what in the name of racism is the deal between Romo and Whitten, who, by the way, may be one of the best QB-TE combos in the NFL (and I freaking HATE Dallas).

Yeah, TO, he’s an innocent, misunderstood guy alright. Oh, boo hoo.

Know what? Stephon Marbury is a hell of a talented basketball player. Look at his NBA track record.

  23. Frank says:

    Giants by 20.

    STATUS: So Out

  24. RSmitty says:

Giants squeaked out a win in Philly, Philly puts them down in the Meadowlands. Philly is 4-2 over the last six AT the Meadowlands. 20 is a serious stretch.

The fan in me wants to pick the Eagles, the prognosticator wants to pick the Giants. Either way, it’s a tough game.

Watch out for the upset potential down in TEN this weekend.

STATUS: Too Wishy Washy – OUT !

  25. anonone says:

Plus, after shooting his mouth off for years, Plaxico Burris shot his leg off. Burris was Eli’s go-to guy. He’ll have to go to jail to see him now.

  26. RSmitty says:

The deep threat has always been the achilles-heel to Johnson’s defense. Granted, his run defense isn’t all that great when up against a pummelling attack, like the Giants offer, but they do more bending than breaking on those matchups; however, with Hixson (sp?) as the Giants’ only remaining deep threat, the Eagles D suddenly fares better against the run attack (by way of the Eagles being able to concentrate more on the line and up the middle).

  27. jason330 says:

    Mr. NFL Guru,

All that contract abrogation stuff happened after Reid/McNabb bailed on Owens.

The poor guy just wants the ball. Is that so wrong?

  28. RSmitty says:

All that contract abrogation stuff happened after Reid/McNabb bailed on Owens

    REVISIONIST! 👿

He just needs some more of he.

  29. anonone says:

All that contract abrogation stuff happened after Reid/McNabb bailed on Owen
No, it started when Owen’s started to whine about wanting to have his contract renegotiated.

The poor guy just wants the ball. Is that so wrong?

Yes, if it screws your team, yes.

  30. Unstable Isotope says:

I think you guys are screwed. It looks like I’ll glide to victory on my prediction in #3.

  31. liberalgeek says:

I regret my prediction, but I have been an Eagles fan long enough that I know how it ends. It’s like any dog movie, it’s going to die in the end and you are going to need tissues.

And if I am right, I want a parade with me in a sedan chair for even guessing the Cards to win.

  32. Eagles will win, McNabb will have an interception and a fumble. 300-350 yards, 2 tds’
    Westbrook 1td

They will crush the Cardinals and win the super bowl. Asante’ get’s another interception and the Iggles D’ get’s another td too

I’m thinking the Eagles win in going away fashion and have it tied up with a bow by 3rd quarter.

    Eagles win 38-24

  33. RSmitty says:

You may have called my previous narrative wishy-washy, but I did describe how the Eagles would win (being able to stack the run without Shooter Burress playing) and look out for the upset in TEN.

That said, however, it ends up being an all-PA Super Bowl…all-PA, in Florida. PHI opens the scoring with a drive that meekly ends in a FG, then Warner bombs one off to Bouldin (that feel-good story for hamstring-dude), then Dawkins (who gives up the bomb) kicks everyone’s ass on D. Somewhere in that first half, Jackson WILL get a punt return for TD, which will be the next score, then the lead remains with the Eagles the rest of the way. 31-21, EAGLES.

I don’t like turning my back on the Ravens, but I think their ride ends on Sunday. Obviously will be a defense-heavy game, but TEN was able to move the ball against BAL, until they managed to turn it over. Plus, when it comes to blown calls, which both teams benefit from this year (except that non-TD for BAL, when they played PIT), does favor PIT a little more. I think BAL’s defense slobber-knocks PIT’s offense a bit, BUT, PIT’s offense is a bit better on the pass game and Ben can launch ’em, which is needed against BAL. 20-13, PIT.

  34. cassandra_m says:

So what’s up with my right-wing blogger homies! Nary a conspiracy theory about a McNabb-Obama blunt connection and I would have thought they would have been riding that horse all month.

And I guess that I can’t even bribe Dave Burris to start the rumors….

  35. RSmitty says:

    Nary a conspiracy theory about a McNabb-Obama blunt connection…

What? They share blunts? Sweeet! I mean, SweeeeD! 8)

  36. Von Cracker says:

    Birds 38, Birds 28.

You saw it here first! 😉

  37. edisonkitty says:

Eagles lose a squeaker to the Cards. Officiating will be awful, giving Eagles fans something to gripe about, but Donovan will be unable to escpape the emotional funk and the day will end in defeat. Cards go on to be crushed by Steelers in a lopsided SuperBowl.

  38. edisonkitty says:

I will always be an Eagles fan, but it is a godawful hard team to love sometimes.

  39. jason330 says:

Eagles lose a squeaker to the Cards. Officiating will be awful, giving Eagles fans something to gripe about, but Donovan will be unable to escpape the emotional funk and the day will end in defeat.

If I had to bet on one outcome I’d bet on this one.

  40. arthur says:

owens starting calling garcia gay in SF. The team then lost 5 of 7 games.

owens comes to philly, gives them a legit no 1 receiver. they lose super bowl. next year owens begins his tirades and they get rid of him. following year garcia takes eagles to nfc championship. sans owens.

dallas – TO is actually a small bad apple when you add in pacman.

owens is a cancer and several teams, who could use him, wont even talk to him – dolphins, one of them who parcells had owens when in dallas.

the eagles have been to 5 of the last 8 nfc champioship games with solid players who dont bring drama.

  41. RSmitty says:

following year garcia takes eagles to nfc championship.

Not quite. They lost in the divisional round to the Saints (who lost to da’ Bears, who lost to the Colts).

  42. anon says:

    And I STILL don’t give a shit.

  43. G Rex says:

Did anybody predict that the Eagles would lose to my Redskins twice and still make the playoffs?

    Pwned!

  44. Roy Munson says:

Eagles will win this and the officiating will be bad. Something for the Cardinals fans to whine about this time around….

LG, I will beat you next time I see you for making a prediction of the Eagles losing in the NFCCG again. You must be listening to your misguided son again.

    Eagles 37 – Cards 20

  45. Susan Regis Collins says:

I’m a steel town ‘girl’ sooooooooo I’m betting on the Steelers. You Eaglets should look to the west when you want real football played by real men 😉
