Unfortunately though, the fish happen to be baby and mommy fish and the shooters are using shotguns.

Can anyone tell me what other country bombed the living shit out of an Arab country killing tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of civilians and excusing it every step of the way?

    Ooooohhhhh! I Know!

    USA!

We are really doing this too…

Our weapons, our military aid, our client state!

    Your tax dollars at work!

  2. jason330 says:

    Horrible.

1 military person treated vs. hundreds of civilians.

  3. gee another country creating hunderds of terrorists that want to strike back at them….

  4. MJ says:

This is sad, however, Hamas was already a terrorist state before this started.

  5. cassandra_m says:

    Hamas is not a state.

These types of images are likely replaying 24/7 on Arab TV, meanwhile it never occurs to anyone here that you do not bomb anyone into moderation.

And if they succeed in getting rid of Hamas (very unlikely), there is Islamic Jihad and multiple other organizations to take their place. And take their place they certainly will.

  6. Not Brian says:

The Israelis an Palestinians each tried to start a state with terrorism. The Israelis got better military support (from us).

Read up on the Irgun, the terrorist organization that became the Likud political party… Wiki ‘King David Hotel Bombing’.

I have no axe to grind with either the Jews or the Muslims… I think religion is silly, and excusing violence with it is even sillier. Both sides have blood on their hands. There is no excuse for the violence.

I think there is no excuse for us supporting the continued strategy of imprisoning the Palestinians to the territories. Hopefully Obama will try to bring everyone to the table for real talks and leverage the continuation of our absurd amount of military support… fat chance…

  7. liz says:

George WAR Bush urged the Israelies to break the truce. While the world opinion is turning minute to minute, millions around the world will drive those surrounding arab nations (who are getting billions of american tax dollars and our weapons of mass destruction) to “stand” with Israel…their own citizens are turning on them.
Jordan threatens to end its “talking” with Israel, Egypt is now having second thoughts, Frenchmen Sarkozy has run to the area..idiot Blair watching “their little plan” blow up in their face…will try to get a ceasefire….but not yet folks.

If you watched Democracy Now tonight you saw the Israel Project chick from DC lie through her teeth, while the UN Relief Agency argued vehemently that “there were no storehouses of food, fuel, medicine or water”, she continued her lying lies.

The situation is now a human tragedy. More women/children are dead and dying, not enough ambulances to get the injured to a hospital. The Norwegian Doctor speaks out again…calling for all humanitarian assistance now.

And who is blocking the Egyptian border…American soldiers! Yep, thats right our soldiers are now at the Egyptian crossing while the trucks are sitting there loaded with medical supplies. The worst inhumanity to man has been designed by the Bush Regime and the Zionist regime to exact as much death and destruction on the Gazans as is possible.

What good is the UN? Meeting after meeting with no results….cuz freaking Bolton and Wolff are keeping ANY agreement from taking place. This is the slow killing, slow death exacting the worst collective punishment known since Soweto.

  8. liz says:

The Zionists are using phospherous on the population too…same thing we used in Iraq. Burns to the bone. The Doctors have found depleted uranium in patients. They have no water…no power! How can anyone look at that film and not be outraged…now imagine what anger you feel if you are an arab or a muslim. Remember these films are being shown all over europe, mid east and asia. Now do you think this is gonna come back and bite US in the ass?

  9. nemski says:

I can’t even argue about this. Both sides are wrong, both sides are right. The fundamentalist Muslims will continue till they kill every last Jew. And Israeli government will kill whoever threatens them. Period.

  10. MJ says:

Bolton is NOT at the UN and hasn’t been in over 2 years – his recess appointment ended on December 9, 2006. Alejandro Wolff was acting permanent representative to the UN from December 2006 – April 2007. Since they have no authority to even be in Security Council meetings, I’m curious how they are “keeping ANY agreement from taking place.”

Spot on, Nemski. (This is not a change from my earlier posts, just a quick observation).

  11. donviti says:

both sides are wrong. totally agree but atrocities, yes atrocities like using napalm, sorry phosperous don’t help the cause and are war crimes….

  12. Dorian Gray says:

Once again Not Brian is 100% correct in comment 7. Both sides are ridiculous. The Jews needed that stupid country because the Old Testement said it was their birthright. The Muslims hate them because they “stole” the land and call the made-up, invisible sky God the wrong name. It’s all about religion. The OT is full of this type of shit. Assyrians, Babylonians, the 12 tribes… always at each others throats. The Romans destroyed Jerusalem in 70C.E. Then the crusades… Considering this has been going on for 5,000 years I’m suprised it is still news. Christians and Jews both use the OT as canon so I guess the US supports Israel. I wonder who’s side we’d be on if the the Torah and Koran were reversed.

    Religion poisons everything.

  13. anon says:

Once again Not Brian is 100% correct in comment 7.

Um… I agree with NB #7 on an emotional level, but he is technically wrong; Israel did not rely on US aid to win its independence. Even in the 1967 war Israel was sending up French warplanes against US-built planes flown by the Arabs. The heavy aid we are currently sending to Israel did not begin until after the Yom Kippur war, in which we resupplied Israel to counter the heavy Soviet arms shipments to Arab countries.

And, while it is true that the King David Hotel was certainly an act of terrorism, it does not fit into the same moral framework of evil as the ongoing Palestinian “Death to all Jews” campaign.

The KD Hotel was an attack on the occupying British. It had a political objective and was not a religious hate crime. Israel does not have an ongoing hate-and-death campaign against the British.

The hotel attack was in 1946, but peacable Jews had been suffering pogroms in Palestine since 1929 and before. The hotel bombing has been pressed into heavy and repeated service to as a counterexample to Arab death campaigns.

  14. anon says:

… actually I may be incorrect about the US-built planes; I believe Saudi had US planes but other Arab countries had MiGs. Maybe I’ll check after coffee

  15. jason330 says:

Back to the original point of the thread. This is very much like shooting fish in a barrel since the Gazan civilians (unlike other bombed populations) don’t have anywhere to flee to as refugees.

Does that put a moral onus on Israel to attack with some restraint? I’d say so.

However, I was speaking with an American Jew this morning who thinks the Israeli action is intended to bring pain to Gazan civilians so that they realize Hamas is a bad choice.

That is pretty rube-goldbergian thinking, but he was sincere.

Bottom line: It is a shit mess.

  16. Dorian Gray says:

Israel was established with explicit Western support. The details are interesting but superfluous. If peaceable Jews were suffering from pogroms in say 1929 why would and reasonable person want to establish a Jewish state there 20 years later? I think we know the answer to this. Not every ethnicity on earth has their own separate nation, but since god mandated it I guess it is so.

Keep in mind though; I have no beef with the Jews in particular. The Muslim Palestinians are just as foolish. All sides are 100% to blame.

  17. Truth Teller says:

General George Marshall was right no peace in this region if a Jewish State is put in place.HST should have taken his advice

  18. liz says:

Gazans trying to flee the phosperous chemical bombs, ran to the United Nations schools…they were bombed last night killing 40 women and children.

Is there any question that while 6 million Jews were being slaughtered in concentration camps the willing German people denied it was happening….is it not what is happening in Amerikkka right now?

Alternet reports today that more and more americans have changed their minds and realize the Israel leadership are just lying propagandists. Europe and the middle east citizenry are rising up in untold numbers while their governments are arresting, beating and trying to stop the massive protests.

Until American citizens rise up, until our voices are heard…our Congress/Senate and leadership are “going to go along to get along”. Where is your voice what have you done other than write on the computer your thoughts…what actual action have you taken. Will you be like the Germans in denial or will you stand up for the humanitarian disaster occuring in our lifetime?

  19. liz says:

God mandated nothing. In the documents of 1948 there were established borders for Israel , and the dispossessed Palestinans were also to have a state…that has never happened in 60 years. If you look at the maps in 1948, and the populations at that time, and look at Israel today you can see that Israel has stolen 70% more of what the UN mandated in 1948.
During the last 60 years Israel has occupied, brutally terrorized and harassed the Palestinans driving them into horrid refugee camps. Israel has violated every UN resolution against them, as they continue to the “final solution for Gaza”. I guess killing off the next generation (babies and young children) is the answer for the future of Israel.

  20. anon says:

I guess killing off the next generation (babies and young children) is the answer for the future of Israel.

Liz… for all the valid points you bring, both factually and emotionally – this is hate speech from you. For all the stupidity and cruelty of the Israeli attack, it is not a genocide.

Palestinian population has exploded and still is. If Israel is committing genocide, they must really suck at it.

Your comments, if they remain unchallenged, are setting the limits for what is acceptable on a blog. The blogosphere may come to regret setting its standards as low as your hate speech.

  21. liz,

    I agree:

Alternet reports today that more and more americans have changed their minds and realize the Israel leadership are just lying propagandists.

because the Americans have seen this bullshit before and it looks, tastes and smells the exact same shit sandwhich we got in 2003.

No one is saying that the gazans are right but….

  22. anon says:

Hamas used the last truce to build bigger rockets. They did a lot of digging too, but apparently were not digging sewer systems.

    Rasmussen poll on Gaza:

Fifty-five percent (55%) of adults, however, believe the Palestinians are to blame for the current situation in Gaza, while 13% point the finger at the Israelis.

  23. Arthur Downs says:

There were nasty games played on both sides but the Arabs should accept reality instead of whining about a rather distant past.

Are Germans and Poles engaged in acts of terrorism to return to ancient borders?

There was a hint of the current folly with the demands made for yielding the Sudetenland. The goal was not one of assuring an allegedly persecuted ethnic minority of autonomy but of destroying a free nation.

Why are the Mad Mullahs stirring the pot? Was not Iran one of the first nations to recognize the new nation?

Is it just possible that many ‘Arab Leaders’ are using Israel as a scapegoat to divert attention from their own failures? What other nation in the region has the degree of political pluralism?

Those troublemakers are playing on ignorance and superstition.

Perhaps Israel might be getting more support from ‘progressives’ had it not shifted away from its socialist roots.

Giving lip service to Hamas and Hezbollah might be as trendy as wearing a Che shirt.

Even Lenin could recognize infantile disorders in his ranks.
