The Kerri Harris Campaign is Legit
I was glad to be able to attend the Kerri Harris announcement today in Wilmington. I had one big question to answer – is this campaign legit?
I got to see first hand that, indeed, it is legit. There will be a lot written about this candidate and this campaign, but make no mistake – this is for real.
I saw a serious operation staffed up by a network of organizations and constituencies all converging on this campaign, possibly for their own reasons, but bound by a commitment to challenge the status quo. I saw a deliberate and serious candidate, expressing a sort of humble urgency.
But it is also what I didn’t see. I’ve been around campaigns that were not serious. It is hard to put a finger on, but you just get a sense that these unserious campaigns don’t embrace the grind. They think doors are going to be thrown open. I didn’t get that impression from this campaign.
Care to share WHY you think it’s legit, beyond a banner and balloons?

Her issues page is refreshing. I felt the unmistakable absence of the usual DINO doubletalk. It was obviously written without the editorial hand of the professional Democrats. And the logo proudly declares her to be a Democrat, which is more than Carper could manage.
You know, given that Kerri identifies herself as a Democrat and Carper does not, I wouldn’t be surprised if she picks up votes in this wave year from people who honestly think they are voting against a Republican.
Just signed up as a volunteer. Between Kerri and Chris Johnson, I might need to resole my shoes. Lotsa doors ahead…
This week I got email from Carper that said:
“A third challenger has announced she is jumping into the race. Tom now has THREE challengers. Rush in $5 now.”
Who are the other two? Are these the expected tomato cans deployed by Carperdyne Inc. to split the anti-Carper vote?
Yo, Tom, the people who could give you small contributions have been screwed over by you. Stick to your true constituents: The banks, Big Pharma, insurance, the energy giants, and the chemical companies. That’s who you represent. Not, you know, real people.
Lots of energy in the room today. The argument is clear and the differences couldn’t be more obvious.
No “DINO doubletalk” (h/t puck), no negotiating away the people’s interest for the interest of capital. So let’s get onboard for the big win.
A better way is possible.
