That’s it! Heavy reverb, mostly Fender guitars and amps, tremolo picking and the occasional “Surfy Dip” with the whammy bar ( No “dive bombing” allowed). It’s definitely “Third Wave” , the “modern” version of surf. Rocks, don’t it?
Oh, yeah. What I’ve noticed, though, in checking out lotsa surf rock this week, is that it’s not unlike traditional bluegrass in the sense that it’s a fairly circumscribed musical genre. Pretty much only one accepted way to play it. I’ve found some gems, though…
For “Trad” surf this is true, but just as Blue Grass has morphed into New Grass and a bunch of others so has surf. The newer stuff has a more aggressive sound from the guitars, more advanced playing technical skills and influences that range from hard rock to metal to jazz and Flemenco. When you know your not going to be a “Big Hit” it opens the door to creativity. Even better no one says things like “if we make it would you quit your day gig”.
Wrong thread for that question. However, the Potters and their sycophantic attorney Sam Guy literally have NEVER had the public interest at heart. Gender equity, my ass.

I have a question to ask. How many people think that Velda Jones Potter should get her $20,000 raise.

I think every woman except Potter should get a pay rise.
And I think there should be surf bands in Delaware, the last one I know of was Brad and the Bombers from the 80’s.
Wouldn’t you need bigger waves to have surf music in Delaware?
Now that is a hot lick for sure! Adding them to my play list.
Just wait ’til tomorrow…
