Dover Downs Demonstrates Again That Delaware Lawmakers Are Chumps
Remember how Delaware legislators spent ungodly amounts of time and energy wringing their hands over possible job losses at Dover Downs if we didn’t stop our cruel taxation of their vice-based money machine? Remember how Jason and I kept pointing out that DD “lost money” mainly because it insisted on over-compensating management and running its business inefficiently?
Guess what? Now that they got some tax relief and sold their operation to an out-of-state casino operator, that company refuses to say that it won’t lay off some of the racino’s 1,388 employees.
C’mon, you General Assembly hayseeds and chawbacons! Get in there and tell them how you’re “partners” with them! Don’t forget to tell your voters how you never saw this coming.

If this goes like most out of state acquisitions there will be big layoffs followed by attempts to get even more money out of the hapless fools in Dover , coupled to vague promises to rehire some of the laid off workers. Suggest said workers start looking now and avoid the rush.
