Breaking: Lisa Diller for 5th NCCo District Rep!

Filed in Delaware by on January 22, 2009

Heard earlier this evening that Lisa Diller was selected to run for this office in its Special Election. Unstable Isotope confirms this, and notes that there was a decent amount of wrangling over the process, but Lisa was chosen unanimously.

This is really good news.

    Outstanding!

  2. Unstable Isotope says:

I think she’ll be an excellent Councilwoman.

  3. Tom S. says:

1 – What will she do about workforce housing?

2 – What will she do about the 32 million dollar deficit the county is running right now?

  4. anon says:

    Go Lisa!

I hope she will support an amended form of WFH–this county may not need it today, but it certainly will in the future.

Once a number of us came to the conclusion, that of the people we heard of, that Lisa was probably the best of the group, we tried to help her appreciate the others that were interested and how best to move forward through the process.
Of the others, I believe there were two types: the one that didn’t fully anticipate how to address any ambiguity in the rules and foster support regardless, And the other who is used to manipulating processes, while everyone else is asleep at the switch.
Obviously, being asleep at the switch is all but over.

After getting Lisa elected (and she will need help), the next thing is to get her to review EVERY ordinance that Clarky/Scott sponsored or co-sponsored and craft an omnibus bill that backs out all the previsions that strictly benefit the development community, in order to repair the damage and highlight others that need to go from Council.

While this is great news, one must caution against ‘Stephanie McClellan Disease’. This affliction happens when intelligent and inquisitive people are forced to endlessly deal with hacks and hucksters.

The brighter you are, the greater your Kafkaesque sense of alienation.

Save getting a job in the Markell Administration, there is no known cure.

I don’t care, I am not a part of that.

Somnab, you say this disease is borne only of contaminated, bloviated chamber air?

Thanks to all of the people who came out on Thursday to participate in or witness the process.

  10. Alan Muller says:

    This is all bullshit.

Nobody can be on the New Castle County and retain integrity, except by resigning ASAP.

Anybody who cares about Lisa ought to work to KEEP her from getting elected.

  11. Lee Ann, Public Servant says:

Wow, I guess someone’s grumpy he’s not at the party.
