Schumer and Ocasio-Cortez Respond to GOP Court Packing
AOC:
Expand the court. Republicans do this because they don’t believe Dems have the stones to play hardball like they do. And for a long time they’ve been correct. But do not let them bully the public into thinking their bulldozing is normal but a response isn’t. There is a legal process for expansion.
Schumer:
I want to be very clear with my Republican colleagues, You may win this vote … but you will never, never get your credibility back.
And the next time the American people give Democrats a majority in this chamber, you will have forfeited the right to tell us how to run that majority. You may win this vote, but in the process, you will speed the precipitous decline of faith in our institution, our politics, the Senate and the Supreme Court.
My colleagues may regret this for a lot longer than they think. Here at this late hour, at the end of this sordid chapter in the history of the Senate, the history of the Supreme Court, my deepest and greatest sadness is for the American people,”
Of course, if Coons and his obsequiousness caucus prevail in the Senate – this tough talk means nothing.
That’s fine. AOC with send Chucky Boy packing in 2022.
How sweet would that be. HEY OLD WHITE GUYS, get off the fucking stage!
I think she’d whip his ass. If it happens, I’ll be pressing that ‘contribute’ button quite a few times.
the lifetime appts are stupid
I’m a big fan of reforming the court. But, Congress has the power to set the scope of what’s justiciable for the supreme court. So in theory could Dems avoid taking a potentially unpopular vote / stance to expand the court and just instead start passing laws with clauses insulating them from review? Thinking this could be something we need to test if we end up with slim majorities or minorities.
Schumer is an ahole but AOC would go down like a $2 hooker.
I take it, then, that you have lots of experience with $2 hookers.
Thats what Joe Crowley thought.

I don’t think AOC can win statewide in NY yet. I think her better play is to amass power in the House”)
