Deep FOIA Thought
Sitting in my car at a level crossing waiting for 100 car coal train headed for the Indian River Power Plant to pass by, I heard that Pete Schwartzkopf is getting some secret messages from his constituents that he wants to keep secret.
I wonder if they have to do with why he likes NRG’s BFF John Atkins so much. Hmmm…?
Did the coal train send you this message through the implants in your skull?
Atkins… You Democrats should stick together.
Allan Loudell told me through a radio recption machine that I have built into my auto’s dash to the left of the glove box.
Mis: Ha ha. The next Democrat thought he has will be the first.
I heard this exchange with Allan Loudell — it was surreal, to say the least. No one wants to release personal and confidential data on constituents, but it seems that there are ways to compromise on this without excluding all emails from FOIA. I’m not sure how other states do this (but I will look around), but I do know that the Feds will redact data from info that you’ve requested. Obviously a real problem with BushCo since they just didn’t give up anything — but when this is working closer to its intention, they do redact personal or business information. In fact, if you are doing business with the Government and you have business confidential info that you want to keep confidential, there is s specific procedure you follow to mark the data to be kept out of the public eye.
Bottom line, with just a little creativity, they can come up with a compromise on this issue that doesn’t shield all of their correspondence. Giving these guys an official “cone of silence” is just not a good idea.
Absolutely Cassandra. Then they would just start doing all their business by email so that we can’t see it.
For crying out loud… e-mails and letters and faxes are ALL THE SAME DAMN THING. They’re all correspondence. They shouldn’t be treated differently just because they’re e-mails.
Other government agencies – hell, even here in Delaware – have dealt with this issue successfully. Privacy and confidentiality is a huge red herring. Don’t fall for this line of crap. I’m very, very disappointed in Pete.
