VERY EARLY LINE: Witzke to Face Lisa Blunt Rochester

Filed in National by on June 2, 2021

Typical Republican, far-right conspiracy theorist, fellow Goldey-Beacom alum and all around nut bag, Lauren Elena Witzke must be the odds on favorite to take on Lisa Blunt Rochester for Delaware’s At Large House seat.   The only question is, will she want it?   I think she will.

As we’ve discussed Witzke isn’t a candidate in the conventional sense of wanting to fill some political office.  She is a grifter and her grift is taking money out of the pockets of racist trump deadeners.   So Witzke’s calculus isn’t “could I win?” but “will this race offer a profitable upside?

My sense is that the answer to that question is – yes.  The national wingnut media doesn’t seem to be very discerning when it comes to promoting candidates to the national wingnut audience. As long as the correct nonsense is emanating from Witzke’s face hole, the national wingnut media will play along – as if she is a legit contender.  So while her name may continue to be a punchline in Greenville, the national money and juicy speaking engagements will continue to roll in.

Additionally, losing does not appear to be an impediment to maintaining the grift.  Losing, being arrested, found in humiliating circumstance, etc… these things never seem to corrode the image of the wingnut grifters.  Rather, because these are viewed as attacks by ANTIFA (or whoever) losing and being indicted actually burnish the wingnut grifter’s resume.

For these reasons, and because there is literally nobody else – I’m calling it.  Lauren Witzke v LBR.

  1. I dunno. I could see her running for, and perhaps winning, a state legislative seat from a RWNJ incumbent who is insufficiently RWNJ for her.

That way, she could be in the news every day doing her best/worst Marjorie Taylor Greene. Plus, she’d get paid for the privilege.

The fact that she might actually win that (and have to show up at a job) has me thinking it will be the House.

I agree with Jason. Look at MTG. She’s raking in millions from right-wing suckers, far more than she’d make as a state rep. And no actual work required.

      • Except…fewer days at the office. Not to mention, it shouldn’t take long for her to get tossed off all the House committees. Meaning, she doesn’t have to show up for committee days.

I think you underestimate the lure of that sweet nutjob cash. It doesn’t flow for state legislators like it does for Congressional candidates.

A traditional candidate would do it the way you suggest — win a legislative seat, create a ruckus to build up brand recognition, run for higher office. But that involves delayed gratification, a strategy with few adherents in Wingnut World.

Unless she’s actually bonkers — and I’ve seen nothing to indicate that, but plenty to indicate she’s a skilled grifter — Witzke has to know that a federal race is her last chance to cash in big (if a Senate seat were on the ballot she’d no doubt run for that again). If you lose too often the easily distracted wingnut public moves on.

There’s no doubt she could win a seat from Sussex, but unless someone steps aside it will touch off yet another SuxCo GOP civil war. I can see it if she’s willing to settle for the kind of attention that gets you on the Salisbury TV station, but she seems to have higher ambitions than becoming SuxCo’s most controversial lawmaker.

BTW – I just noticed that this: ” So Witzke’s calculus isn’t “could I win?” but “will this race offer a profitable upside?” is exactly what Trump was thinking when he ran for, and accidentally won the Presidency.

She is on social media outraged that she is banned from renting a car:)

Witzke has found a gig, subbing for anti-masker, anti-vaxer Pastor Rick Wiles on his nightly TV show. Wiles is out with… COVID.

“TruNews announced that Lauren Witzke, a Republican Senate candidate, will fill in and co-host Mr Wiles’ nightly TV programme for the next two weeks.”

You can catch her tonight sharing hosting duties with Milo Yiannopoulos.

So… I found this Trunews and it is truly insipid. Milo Yiannopoulos is introduced as a “Former Homosexulaist and Reformed Sodomite” I wonder if he has that on his business card?

And there is some fat gay guy at the table trying and failing to bring in callers as Witzke and Yiannopoulos kiss each others ass.
